Transport from Airport to RPH?

I've only used Magical Express for Disney before. What is the best and most economical way to get from airport to Royal Pacific? I was hoping not to rent a car since I see they charge for parking each night.

Thanks

The cheapest way would probably be a taxi. Mears Transportation supplies taxi service and they have a fare estimator that estimates $32.45 one way from the Orlando airport to Universal Studios. So for round trip between the airport and RPR, I'd guess about $70.00

Another option, which I use, is a towncar service. There are several towncar services that operate in Orlando. Round trip service will cost around $110 to $120 (some are less) but most offer a free 30 minute grocery stop from the airport to the hotel. We've used Happy Limo, Murray Hill and FL Tours. My wife and I used FL Tours on our last trip and we were extremely happy with them and will probably use them on our next trip. There are a few more towncar services that we haven't used.

With FL Tours, the driver greeted us as the bottom of the escalator, helped us with our luggage, and guided us to our waiting car. When we used Murray Hill, the driver was also suppose to meet us at the bottom of the escalator, but he was running late and arrived while we were retrieving our luggage. With Happy Limo, you call them after you've arrived and have picked up your luggage. The driver is suppose to arrive in about 5 minutes, but the last time we used them, the driver showed up between 20 and 30 minutes after we called, which disappointed us.

For the return trip, the driver will pick you up at the same location that they dropped you off at the pre-arrainged time.

As for the drivers of the three companies, all have been friendly and informative.

I am also a huge fan of the town car service. The grocery stop is invaluable -- with the breakfasts, drinks and snacks we picked up, the ride paid for itself -- as opposed to paying for those things onsite. We have had great luck and no complaints, and we've used multiple services as well.

Would you please explain how our family of 4 would use the Mears taxi service? Do we have to set it up prior to leaving, or do is there a taxi stand we go to with our luggage? And then what about the trip back to the airport on our departure day?

TIA! :)

There are five of us so we rented a midsize car from Hertz for just under $40. Plan is to pick up the rental car, make the grocery store stop, and return the car 24 hours later at RPR. So we will probably be charged for one night of parking however that still only adds up to $55 plus gas. We have one of the kids friends with us so we may need to play tour guide:goodvibes.

What will you do for the ride back to the airport?

Mears shuttle is $29 per person round trip from the airport to RPH and back. You can reserve and pay in advance online on their website, then check in with them when you get to the airport.

Sorry, but I don't know that answer. On every trip, we've either rented a car or used the towncar service. Mears does have a website: www.mearstransportation.com. Hopefully you can find your answer there if someone here can't supply it.

We are staying Club Level at RPR so the day before I just plan on having the concierge help me with transportation back to MCO. We never seem to go anywhere once we get to RPR and this way we save on five days of parking besides the rental itself.

I figured we would still save significant cash.:yay:

Is there a rental car location AT RPH on site?

Hertz is the only car rental company onsite and they are at all three of the Loews hotels.

BTW I see you are from Iowa...our youngest goes to Drake and has fallen in love with Iowa.

Drake is a great university! I'm working on my masters degree through Drake myself! And Iowa is a great place to live if you can survive the winters--this most recent one especially. I've lived in Iowa all my life and this winter was the WORST! Brutal. Snow drifted the front door and windows of our house shut for WEEKs. All the more reason my kids are dreaming of a Florida vacation, even though the intense heat there this summer (and crowds) are worrying me.
