Transparent yoga pants - yuck!

Interesting. At a local theme park here in Indiana, I heard an employee ask a woman to cover her chest while in the non-water park because her bikini cover-up wasn't, well, covering up much of anything.

I think as long as the message is being given discreetly ("I apologize-- I don't want to cause you any embarrassment however it appears that....") then the recipient should understand the intent. All I know is I wouldn't want my goods to be on display during someone else's holiday.

I wear leggings and I am not skinny... but I honestly don't give a flying what other people think. I do buy nice ones that are not see through or thin (I check) and I do only wear them with tops that cover my behind/tummy. But they are comfortable and easy to wear with a number of looks. Don't like it, then look away. It's your problem.
. But by not wearing see through yoga pants and covering your butt with a shirt aren't you saying your not the person this thread was describing?

I for one would never have the guts to tell a stranger that their pants are see-through. I also think there's a fine line between being helpful and being judgmental.

I can't see what the problem is? Do people get upset looking at women in bikinis at the water parks too?
If it's a HUGE person on a tiny bikini, O wonder what the hell was she thinking. I also wonder why none of her family or friends told her to buy a cute suit that was more appropriate for her body size/type.

Some people just don't give a damn how they look.

And they won't care if someone says something to them. However I think that there are some that don't know that they might be exposing themselves a little too much but how can anyone tell them without causing hurt feelings?

Disney world is unique in that there are hoards of people, in all sorts of shapes and sizes, taking on more exercise than they usually do while bending in all sorts of ways they don't usually bend to get into and out of rides in a climate that is hot, damp, and sticky. In these conditions any type of clothing is ripe for a wardrobe malfunction. There are many places where it is much too easy to look up someone's cargo short. There are more places it's much too easy to look directly down on folks and see more cleavage than they intended to show. We all have seen people with perfect length shorts that tend to ride up when they walk making them really unflattering. Ride harnesses pull on shirts making them much tighter than intended. Wind blows sun dresses. Water makes opague things see thru. Humidity make fabric cling where it shouldn't. etc.

To their credit, Disney has spent a ton of time, money and effort to add details everywhere. If you are going to be offended by glimpses of parts of people you normally wouldn't see you might instead try checking out the Disney details.

I think there's a difference between workout crops, leggings, and yoga pants.

Cotton leggings are meant to be worn under dresses or long tunics, something covering your rear. Yoga pants are meant to be lounge pants but have obviously crossed over into every day wear. Workout crops are a polyester blend material that are moisture wicking and usually thicker than the regular cotton yoga pants or leggings.

FWIW, I DO wear workout crops in public, including the parks. They wick sweat and are quick drying in the humidity and when they get wet. But, they are a thicker material. I do think the more transparent ones are the cheaper, lower quality ones. I'd recommend anyone who wants to wear these outside of the gym invest in a more expensive, higher quality one such as Athleta (my personal fave) or Lululemon. Much more "acceptable" I would say.

I do agree that yoga pants and cotton leggings worn as pants are probably less acceptable. A lot of people also don't know their size, so the more the fabric stretches, the more transparent they become. Plus, the popular ones like Old Navy are just low quality which also doesn't help.

No one wants to see folks underwear.

The people walking around with their undies on display must have a sick need for attention.

Today I learned that when people say "no one", they really just mean themselves.

After all, the lovely peasant blouse I wore to church today is sheer enough to make my bra visible through it. It's a perfectly plain beige bra that I have specifically for wearing under shirts like this. I don't, as far as I know, have a sick need for attention. ;)

(I also saw an old episode of Man From UNCLE the other day in which the outline of Robert Vaughn's tightie whities were clearly visible through his trousers. Yummy!)

YUCK

I would never wear a blouse like that without a cami under it.

And thus we're different people. I'll even go you one further... I used to wear overalls with just a sports bra when I was in my early twenties. :hippie:

As for layering a cami... that'd pretty much defeat the purpose of a light blouse on a hot day, wouldn't it? I'd be better off just wearing the cami by itself (or is that a "yuck" thing to you, too?).

While I agree with those who don't want to see in your face revealing clothing. I agree some people cross a line with it and don't seem to care what others think.

I also think somewhere in this thread pettiness and judgment came into it somewhat. People have a tendency at times to look their noses down at others.. Especially women. Some of us seem to enjoy that a little too much.

This thread is exactly why when I go to WDW I fret and worry about what to pack.

I have told this story a couple times in this forum but, I have trouble with my legs and feet. On my last trip I wore tennis shoes the entire time, New Balance.. White. Unfortunately, I couldn't wear cute sandals or flip flops or anything other than sturdy tennis shoes.
I also wore capris the entire trip. It was September.. I wasn't wearing long pants and jeans.
In a gift shop in Hollywood Studios I noticed a few ladies laughing and then noticed they were looking at me and making fun of the fact I was wearing "tennis shoes and Capri pants".
I shouldn't care what people think but, it hurt my feelings.. A lot. When I was in my 20's I had great legs and great body but, in my 40's I had health issues and I felt bad enough about it as it was to then add on top mean spirited women making fun of how I dress.

Also..what if this lady OP is referring to had no clue you could see through her pants?? And then you think you are being helpful saying something to her but, what can she do at that point?? I doubt she had a change of clothes and I doubt they are going to leave the park. So then for the rest of the day she is super self conscious, and it makes her very uncomfortable. I know for me it would be difficult to really enjoy myself at that point cause I would be so focused on everyone being able to see everything back there.
Ignorance is bliss
sometimes.

Just my thoughts.

sharing a story like that is not easy, it takes bravery and courage, thank you. i've been reading this thread all afternoon, feebly attempting to formulating a response that would strike the perfect balance between an acknowledgement that sometimes we dress our best, and sometimes our dress gets the best of us, and my frustration with the undercurrents of judgement and body shaming- particularly towards women, in this thread. you have summed up my thoughts and feelings better than i could have.
