Hi Everyone,

Please excuse me for asking what may be a dumb question....I'm very new here and although I have learned a so much from you guys, I've certainly got a long way to go!

We've just recently returned from our first WDW trip and we did not stay on property. We stayed in LBV and used the free shuttle bus system to get to the parks...

We are planning a surprise trip for our nieces who will be 13 and 9 in June (we will be telling them on Christmas). My DH has just informed me that we can stay on property this time!! We don't want to rent a car...too many of us and just really prefer not to....

My question is this: Is there an easy way for me to know which hotel/resort goes to which park and how do you get there? I believe that if we stay at Swan/Dolphin, we are within walking distance of Epcot and shuttle service of some sort to AK...don't know if it's a ferry, monorail, bus, etc....

I'm trying my best to select something not too pricey and keep it around $200 or less a night. I also want to be able to get to/from the parks easily any time of the day. Free shuttle service was okay....just looking for something more reliable and exciting while getting the opportuinity to stay close to all the magic....

Thanks for all your help! It is greatly appreciated!!

Staying at the S/D, here are your transportation options

Bus to MK
Bus to AK
Boat or walk to Epcot
Boat or walk to MGM
Bus to BB (same bus as AK)
Bus to TL
Bus to DTD (same bus as TL)

to go from park to park

From MGM
Bus or boat to Epcot
Bus to AK
Bus to TTC, boat or monorail to MK

From Epcot
monorail to TTC, boat or monorail to MK
bus to AK

From AK
Bus to TTC, boat or monorail to MK

(I did not repeat the route going in the oposite direction)

Ed,
Thanks for your reply! If we decide to stay at S/D, I'll be set!

All Disney hotels have transportation to each Disney theme parks, water parks, and Downtown Disney.

Bus transportation from the Disney owned resorts is the same as described above except for Poly., Contemp. and Grand Flor. which have monorail service instead for some routes.

Resort to resort trips require transferring at a park, any open park, preferably the park most directly along the way.

(Almost quoting from a Disney brochure) Off site hotels may have their own shuttle service to WDW. Once you are on Disney property, Disney transportation will take you where you need to go.

Disney hints:

The only instance where WDW transportation ia lacking is if you go between resorts but even then its not bad in the afternoon. The only time it gets really bad is when the Parks are closed, and you have to transfer at Pleasure Island to get bewteen Point A and Point B.

Welcome to the DISboards!! If you stay at an 'Epcot' resort...Boardwalk, Beach/Yacht Club or Swan or Dolphin..you can walk to Epcot and Disney Studios (MGM) You can also take one of the boats from your resort to these two parks. There are buses to all other parks. If you stay at a monorail resort...Polynesian, Grand Floridian or Contemporary, you can take the monorail to MK. Also from GF and the Polynesian you can take a boat to MK and from CR you can walk. Buses to other parks from those resorts. You can also take the monorail from them to the TTC where you can change to the Epcot monorail line.

If you stay at a moderate or a value resort, you take buses to all parks. If you are at either POR or POFQ, you can take the boat to DTD, which is nice.
Transportation from all the on-site Disney resorts is very easy to use. The bus stops are very well-marked on the site maps you get when you check in at your resort. You will always be able to tell which bus is going to which park as it drives up to the bus stop. At some of the resorts there are different areas of the bus stop for different park buses...mostly at the bigger resorts (values and mods.)
