Transmeridian Air?

Can I get some opinions on Transmeridian Airlines? They have the best rates by far and I understand they are a charter operation. Also can our Toledo friends comment on the Residence Inn in nearby Holland Ohio? We'll have a total of 6 people travelling so we are looking for accomodations near Toledo Express that can hold our extended family.

This is the same one I was checking from Rockford, however, it sounds like it is quite a drive from the airport. It looks close on the map!

Pros, cheap airfare, convenient flight schedules, direct flights with seemingly shorter times, good in flight service with meals

Cons, charter service, meaning that they can cancel flights at any time and have no obligation to get you on another flight on another airline and won't. They have done this, cancelling flights already booked with minimal notice, leaving the customer scrambling and paying higher fares.

If you can live with the risk of the con, they are great, but there have been many reports and several on this site about flights being cancelled and people left looking for an alternative. If not for this, they are great. I flew them in October and it was a quick, cheap, direct flight, but luckily mine didn't get cancelled.

Prince Eric is right. Charter airlines are not subject to the same regulations on cancelled flights, overbookings etc that the scheduled airlines are. Generally they only have one or two planes and if something goes wrong you are stuck. They do not have to book you on another airline and probably have no agreement with the other airlines to take you. Your money will be refunded since they are required to put your money in escrow until you actually get a flight.

They are subject to the same FAA safety regulations.
