transformers the ride. now open..

we went on twice this morning.
It was awesome. Very similar to Spiderman. My 9 DS and 12 DD LOVED it. Wait time this am was nothing.....we virtually walked on. Que area has lots to look at and gizmos to touch. Not much high tech, but lots of buttons and such.

we did not have the express pass, the ride was open to anyone

Ive never been to US, but many times to Disney. So I guess I need to figure out what Spider-Man is like....

We rode this morning and, at least right now,is a great time to go! They did not have an express pass line yet ( fri or sat.). They did have single riders line.

The ride itself was excellent... We really enjoyed it!

It is like a car kinda, similar to toystory. Instead of shooting, it is a bunch of rooms that you are "driven" into and there is lots of big "movie screens" with 3-D transformers. You are taken on a track where you are spun, driven and jerked around. It is a dark ride that is combo ride and 3-d movie.

I am not sure how else to describe it.

Check YouTube for ride videos. It won't give you the whole experience but at least you can see what its like.

Got to do it tonight just after 8pm. We did single rider and got stright on the normal que was 40 minutes. It's so good I love Spider-Man and it was better than that so glad I got to try it :)

The passholder preview had a bit of a shaky start this morning as cast members did a poor job of line management. The amount of passholders that showed up looked to surprise some of the staff as they let us in through turnstiles after taking everyone out of a well formed line and spreading us out into a mobbed waiting area. The mass of people were then brought on to the main entry street (while fast walking). The people were again stopped and corralled as the team lead asked folks not to run.

That message was not well enforced and moments later as the crowd surged forward, it looked like a girl about 12 or so was pushed to the ground and was in convulsions. It was a disgusting scene of the lowest type of people as they continued to run around her. All for the sake of getting on a ride quickly. The paramedics came and immobilized her. I can only hope the girl is ok and shame on the park for such poor crowd control. At the very least, they should have funneled the crowd down to a few people at a time to avoid a typical Black Friday type scene.

That IS disgusting and I'm glad I wasn't there! What was Universal thinking? I guess management once again failed to think about the crowd they were going to have. A hour for the preview? Really?

That is so sad. Hopefully UO will get crowd control under control before Diagon Alley opens next year. As a mother, I just can't understand how other parents could just walk (or run) past a child that is on the ground like that.

I wonder if anyone has posted you tube videos of the new ride yet...

Yeah...and it seemed they'd gotten their act together since Mardi Gras was so much better this year for crowd control.

I guess not.

I saw the poor girl convulsing this morning and as a firefighter/EMT I stopped for a second to see if I could be of assistance, but the people attending to her stated they were nurses so I knew she was in good hands. As I was going through the line a few minutes later she looked alert and responsive.

It was a sad scene. Universal should have someone stand at the front of the crowd with a long horizontal pole (like at a parade) and walk the crowd to the attractions. If you cross the pole you get singled out and booted/send to the back whatever.

That explains the ambulance we saw. Universal is slipping big time in a lot of areas. When we walked up to the turnstyles right at 8 am, there was no signage (again) pointing anyone in the right direction. Plus only 2 turnstyles open on the exit side. After a few minute someone came out with a handheld reader and started to help push people thru. We got to Monsters Cafe as Metros ambo was leaving. (This is just me but I dont trust most nurses as far as I can throw them.Unless they prove otherwise. Ive had 1 too many cause problems on scenes then solved. From doing CPR on a persons neck to basically kidnapping. Theres also fire crews Ive seen that concern me. Im a FF EMT in Fl also)

The only thing we did notice they got right was they were checking for APs when you got to the entrance of Transformers. My wife commented that they could very easily have done something special for passholders like a pin or a button or something.

I have said it time and time again no one is as efficient in moving people as WDW. I do like UNI though . . . . Just experience the USF parking saga.
