Hello all,

My family and I are taking a trip this year from October 25-November 3rd. We have never been there during the Halloween Season so excited to see all the decorations and MNSSHP. So the last MNSSHP is November 1st and i'm wondering how fast they switch over to Christmas decorations. Would love to see Main Street decorated in Christmas before we leave. Does anyone have any idea if they do the switch over over night after the last Halloween party or do they wait a couple of days.

Thanks

In my experience it all happens pretty quickly (1 night-ish) during the week between the last MNSSHP and the first MVMCP. Which night is a toss up.

MK is switched over in one night. One day you'll be there with Halloween decorations, the next day it'll be Christmas decorations.

I believe the first Christmas party is the following weekend. So I would expect Halloween decor to come down the night of the 2nd and Christmas to begin to go up the next couple nights.

Not all the decor is done in one night though. The arches usually take 2 days or so.

They basically take down all of Halloween after the first party, and then put up Christmas at MK over the course of the nights in between MNSSHP and the first MVMCP. They will usually wait to put the tree up until after the Christmas special is filmed.

At the other parks and resorts you're likely to see a lot of Christmas decor.
At MK the transition starts in the middle of the night after the last party but I doubt you'll see anywhere near a full transition by the 3rd.

That has not been the case for several years. They USED to have to wait because the parade “hosts stand” was built in the same spot as the tree, but they no longer have that stand.
In fact, they no longer record the “parade” at MK at all.

Yep they only record performances at WDW now. Usually at least one in each park.

Last year husband and I attended the last MNSSHP on October 31st. We went back to MK the next day on Nov. 1st and the Halloween was down and a few Christmas items were up. Unfortunately we were just there for breakfast before hopping to another park, so I didn't really get any photos in MK to show this. The photo below though is a comparison of Oct. 31st and Nov. 2nd. On November 2nd more was up and we actually took the Keys to the Kingdom tour that day and our guide talked about the transition and said MK usually takes 3 days. She said that the park as we saw it on day 2 was actually mostly complete except for the adding the big tree.

Did not realize that they had stopped recording the parade at WDW. I guess I thought it was a blend of both parks. I knew they recorded performances at the parks.
Any idea when they stopped recording the parade at WDW?

1. The show is still edited from scenes shot at various Disney parks (primarily in FL and CA.)
But, the 'marching down the street" segments are (currently) shot in CA.

2. As I recall, 2016, or so.
