Has anyone been on the DCL transfers out of New York? Curious if we get to the airport early what time they start picking up passengers? Also is it coach style buses like at Port Canaveral? We will be flying in on the first day of our cruise October 6th. Thanks everyone!

We only took the transfer the opposite way (port to airport) so I can't answer that part, but they were coaches almost identical to the ones used for Port Canaveral, just without the DCL branding on the outside obviously. They even played the same information DVD with all the characters, trivia, cartoons, etc during the journey.

I did the transfers both ways. There must not have been a lot of people doing the airport to port leg b/c I ended up with a personal town car to get me to the port. Return to the airport was as ivanp91 described, a coach bus. We had to wait a bit for the bus to fill, and even with that, since the trip was so short, I ended up with a lot of extra time at the airport. I got there too early to even check in for my flight.

We did the official transfer from the official hotel (the Marriott Marquis Time Square) to the port in October, and it was the most unorganized disaster I've ever seen with the Disney name attached. They said "go meet near the desk at 10:45". At 11:15 we were still standing there, until finally somebody came and just said "go downstairs". No signs, no leading the group, nothing. We get to what is apparently the bus, and all of the luggage they'd collected is sitting on the sidewalk. We had to physically pull our luggage out of the pile and hand it to them before we could get on the bus. Then half the people drug their carry-on roller bags onto the bus, thinking (apparently) that there were airline overhead bins. So they just sat with these giant suitcases on their laps. We get to the port, and they just said "okay, go inside". Except there was some Canadian customs form that we needed (that coulda shoulda been given out on the bus. Just a nightmare. We weren't actually on the ship until close to 1:15.

If anybody is staying in NYC before a cruise, just take a town car or taxi or Uber or ANYTHING other than that official transfer. You'll thank me for it.

Thank you everyone for your responses. We definitely have a lot to think about when it comes to transfers. I'm looking at taxi fares and they seem to be roughly $80 each way. That may be our best option. Thanks al! :thanks:
