Transferring Points

The request to transfer points may be made by phone, e-mail or fax and must be confirmed in writing to MS. I assume this is by both parties.

Over the phone, you need to have thier name and membership #, and you must fax/email member services stating you want to transfer the points.

What is the best way to get payment? If you transfer them, how can you guarantee payment?

That's a catch 22 and requires trust on both sides of the agreement. The official word in the offering statement from Disney is that transfers are not to involve exchange of money. If you want to be paid for a transfer, both you and the other party have to have a lot of trust that neither is going to reneg on the deal. Once points are transfered, they can not be moved back to the original owner.

I just completed a transfer to another member that I charged the points too. diane is right, once the points are transferred, they cannot be returned to you. Its not like making a reservation that you can cancel if they fail payment. I required full payment recieved and cleared before I called and made the transfer. I put together an agreement in writing stating this so that the recieving party understands, and have had no problems with this.

If you loan/rent points to a member who ownes at a DIFFERENT resort than you, it is better if you book the reservation in their name. I rented BWV points from someone (I own OKW), and it was very difficult to book at the 11 month window at BWV once the points were in my account. We eventually worked it out, but it took several long phone calls including supervisors making "after hours" changes in the system. Next time, I'll just have the owner of the points make the reservation for me (in my name and account number).
