transferring points

I have two contract numbers with 2 different use years can I transfer points from one contract into the other? we are wanting to bring a large group of family in 2019 and eveyone wants to stay at the one resort, I wont have enough points by then for that to happen but if I can transfer from other contract then it will work out?

Points retain their home resort even when transferred. Transferring doesn’t give you more points to use at 11 months if the resorts are different.

Of they are the current use year yes. You cannot transfer banked points. Plus if they are the same resorts the you will have 11month booking for all poi ts. I would transfer into the contract that is bigger. That way if you need to borrow points you can from your bigger contract

If you transfer points, you will need to call MS to make the reservation since they won't show up on your dashboard unless they are the same resort and same UY.

Piggybacking on the transferred points question....can transferred points be banked? In this situation, I transferred points from one of my contracts to another, and I will be hard pressed to use them before the use year expires. I am still in the banking window for the original location of the points.

Yes, transferred points may be banked. Banked points cannot be transferred.

Points may be transferred into the same Use Year (2017, 2018, etc.) in the other member's account. At this time a member could transfer points from their 2017 Use Year (regardless of the UY month) into another member's 2017 Use Year. Right now everyone is in their 2017 Use Year but beginning on February 1, the 2018 Use Years will begin and the transfer rules need to be considered when making/accepting a transfer. 2017 points must go into the other member's 2017 account and 2018 must go into 2018.

Members could even transfer points from two Use Years with one phone call as we can transfer from the current and next Use Year. Today members could transfer points from their 2017 and 2018 use Year to another member's account. The 2018 points could not be used until the start of that Use Year though, as transferred points cannot be borrowed.

Members with multiple memberships may transfer from one membership into the other. My understanding is that this would not count as one of your allowed transfers for your Use Year, but that policy is not in writing so it is up to MS whether to allow additional transfers from those memberships or not.

Not Doc but yes you can transfer between your own contracts. However there's been a number of recent reports where CM's are enforcing the 1 transfer rule even for owners transferring between their own contracts so you might be restricted to just doing that between 2 of your contracts. The lovely thing about DVC is if this did happen you could call back and hope to get a CM that would allow you to do a second transfer. Might be easier to make reservations in each of your UY's though and just have the reservations linked as a continuing stay.

Why not just transfer from your March points to June?

Transferring doesn’t change the underlying UY, so transferring doesn’t alter any banking dates for the points.

Your June contract points will remain June points, so if you are planning a trip in April or May, you wouldn't be able to use the June points that you transferred because that would be borrowing them. In this situation, transfer your March points to your June contract and use the March points, plus borrowed June points.
