transferring pictures

I figured out how to use my digital camera and now I have to figure out how to transfer them to a disk. My husband managed to transfer them to our laptop (we have the Kodak Easyshare Dock by the way with our camera) but now we have to figure out how to transfer them to a disk for safe keeping. We bought CD-R disks--are these the right kind?? Will all the pictures from the 512mb card fit on one disk??
Any info you can share on this would be appreciated. We have to get this all figured out by December.

Funny you should ask that question, I have been searching google to find out how to do that too. We are leaving for Disney in 5 weeks and this digital stuff is new to us. I have been "playing" with it but want to make sure we are doing everything right.
Any info, or any sites anyone can lead us to would be greatly appreciated.

I have a burn cd program on my computer (Roxio) which is pretty simple to do. I open it up, put the cd in the drive, select which pictures / folder I want to transfer and hit enter. Its done for me. It even tells me how much free space is available. On my computer, sometimes I can just copy the folder with the pictures, open my computer and the drive where the disk is, and paste it there (I think this works for me when using a CD-RW). Most times though this doesnt work, so I just use Roxio. There are 2 types of cds-CD-R which is recordable and can only be burned once, and CD-RW which is rewritable and can be used over and over again (like a cassette tape). What I do is transfer all my pictures to my computer and use the CD-RW to back them up every now and then. When it gets full, I burn them to a CD-R. I take a lot of pictures of my son and have a CD-R starting with his sonogram to his second birthday. I probably couldve burned another year of pictures on it so you will have plenty of space. Higher mpgs do take up more space. If you cant figure it out, you can always take your memory card to Walmart, etc and use one of the digital picture machines to transfer them to cd. Problem is then you have to pay for it. I got a pack of 100 CD-Rs for $20 a few years ago and still havent gone through them! Some dvd machines can play the cd-r so when I visit friends, I carry the cd to show them the pictures (works like a slide show). I also use the pictures as a screen saver on my computer. My son loves sitting here looking at them.

CD-R's are 650Mb or 700 Mb so all the pictures from a 512 Mb Memory card will fit on a CD-R.

I couldn't get my Kodak easy share pictures on a disk. I called them, and they said I had to update my software. Pretty funny since I just bought the camera. Oh well, haven't tried that yet. Those are the same disks I bought.
