I cant seem to find the answer elsewhere so I have come here. Wanting to pay my dues with gift cards and looking to have the exact amount on as few gift cards as possible. If you have two 100.00 gift cards can you transfer 58.50 for one to the other now having one card at 158.50 and one at 41.50 on the gift card site? I know someone here will have the answer TIA

Happy Holidays

Sure - the default is to transfer the full value, but you can change it.

I've always had to transfer the whole balance from one card to another. Can the PP explain how they were able to transfer a partial amount?

- Go to https://www.disneygiftcard.com/Manage/MyCards
- Enter the "receiving" gift card. If it doesn't default (or you have other cards on your account), set this card as the "Primary Card"
- Enter the new card information
- Under the new card is a "transfer" button
- The values will pre-populate to be a total transfer by default, so change that value to whatever you want it to be

No card may exceed $1,000.00. Godspeed.

The bolded part is what I'm not understanding. How do you change that value? There is no cursor to be able to change that amount.

I've bet m using the Disney Giftcard site for years now. To my knowledge, there has never been a way to transfer anything other than the entire amount of one giftcard to another giftcard. Yes, you can see the value(s) on the card(s) and it looks like the value field is selectable, but it isn't really. It's almost as if they originally built the site to allow transfer of amounts less than the total, but then decided not to actually implement that feature.

It is working for me.

Hmmm. Doesn't work for me. Just tried it again. I'm not able to change any amount.

Mine are all at zero right now, but I think I just clicked in the amount box. Might have been a double click.

Also, check the FAQ. Disney gives instructions there.

This is what I see when I go to the FAQ

What is Transfer Balance?
Can I transfer a partial balance?

No, you can only transfer the entire balance from each Disney Gift Card, but note that each card can only hold a maximum value of $1,000.

I believe you are right. I think I was confusing the transferring from card to card with the actual payment of dues with the gift card, where you can spend less than the full amount. My apologies.

So now my question would be, Do you call MS to use the partial on a gift card?

I pay all of my dues online. I just click the contract I want to pay and then enter how much I want to pay. I then use the other gift card the same way.

so are you able to use a partial gift card on line? Can you change the value?

There are two separate ideas going on here.
1) Can you combine two gift cards? Yes. Can you move a partial amount from one gift card to another? NO. If a gift card has 33.28 left on it, can you transfer it to another gift card? YES - as long as you transfer the entire remaining amount.

2) Can you pay maintenance fees with a gift card? Yes. Can you pay a partial amount with the gift card? Yes (For example, say you have 2 contracts. You could pay 42.41 on one contract with the gift card. Then later pay $57.59 toward another contract.)

Yes. What I do is look to see how much I have on a GC. Like right now, I have $54.76 on a GC. I am set up on auto-pay on the DVC website. I just pay my monthly payment using GCs each month, and then around April, I purchase enough GCs to pay off the balance. But what I will do before January 15 is go online and use the $54.76 GC to pay one of my HHI contracts which is $35.63. I will then use the remaining balance on that GC ($19.13) to pay toward my other HHI contract which is also $54.76. I will then use another GC to pay the rest of that contract ($35.63). I hope this make sense.

I paid my full 2019 dues last week using multiple gift cards on the DVC site.

I did end up with about 15 'receipt' emails, but after I looked at the Disney card site and the combining feature, I decided it was just as easy to do it directly on the DVC site.

I had several $500 cards but many partially used $50 cards, and it was super easy. I used the pay via contract feature and just kept adding cards until all dues were paid.

And this saved me a couple of hundred as I try to buy my gift cards discounted.

I have already collected $700 in gift cards for 2020 with discounts on my Chase cards.
