We have an extra studio booked for our December 2014 DCL cruise and are considering changing the reservation to use DVC points (we have extra to use in the next year).
Can this be done? Can it be part cash, part points?
Has any one done it? Any concerns on when to do it?
As long as the lead name is paid for in points you can split the other passengers between points and cash as you choose. The only restriction is that each passenger must be paid for with all points or all cash.
It is really a new reservation and a cancellation from DCLs perspective.
When you call DVC they will check to see what availability there is on the cruise you want for points. They may have the cabin type you want for points, them you can pay for the cruise ,all in points or some people in points and others at the DVC pre-negotiated cash rate. The pre-negotiated rate may be more or less then the rate you got from DCL!
In addition it will cost you $95 to make the reservation. I believe they will also help you cancel your existing reservation, so you can get the same cabin if you are buying the same cabin type.
