Hi all,
I currently have a GTY room booked for September but now have the option of upgrading to concierge. This excites me greatly! But... isn’t there always a but?!
The PIF date is next week and if for any reason I can’t fly out from the UK (I’m looking at you COVID-19) and I need to transfer to an alternative sailing will I lose my money? Could the balance be transferred to the alternative cruise? I know deposits are non refundable on concierge but I wouldn’t be looking at cancelling, just transferring to an alternative cruise (or is that a cancellation and rebook in their eyes)?
I really want to book it but also really don’t want to risk losing a large chunk of money if I can’t get there.

You may want to call DCL and verify this, but in the past people were able to transfer concierge’s bookings before PIF without a penalty. When is your cruise, and does it fall into the current parameters where Disney is allowing PIF’s closer to the sailing date?

Generally speaking, after PIF is considered a cancel and rebook, with any penalties. I don’t know if DCL may be more flexible due to travel restrictions or not. I would definitely look into travel insurance and make certain it would cover cancellation due to pandemic-related reasons.

The cruise in question is the 18th September, I have until today 4pm Eastern time to decide if I want to take the upgrade. Unfortunately I don’t think concierge rooms are included in the current offer of later PIF dates.

I’d like to think they would be understanding under the circumstances but also totally understand that they are a business which needs to pay. I am seriously hoping that travel will be taking place by then but everything is so up in the air. I do have a yearly insurance policy which I keep rolling, I will have to check about the pandemic related reasons though.
