Transfer Rule question

I have been considering requesting a point swap, basically I swap another member for one resort priority for another. I think I have a pretty good understanding but one thing that is confusing is the limit on one a year. If I transfer points out, can I get points transferred in or is that against the rules? (basically can I transfer my points out and then also get points transferred in to me) If it is I guess the only option I would have would be to trade reservations. Thanks in advance.

Disney doesn't want you to use transfers instead of buying an additional home resort so it's once in or out per year, not both.

But the way to make a swap if anyone would consider one is for you to agree to make the reservation for the other member using your points while the other member agrees to make a reservation for you. That is not a transfer of points.

One of ther obvious problems with a swap is that the nightly point costs vary per night among the resorts for the same room cc category excpet that BWV preferred/boardwalk. BCV and BRV are close to the same.

You could swap if it’s different UY. They get your 2018 points and you get there 2019. Just remember you can only bank transferred points you can’t borrow them

How about calling Disney in a three way call, with the other owner, and having the Cast Member do the transfer out, and then the transfer back in, from the other party, at the same time?

That would be 2 transfers though?? You can only transfer once, either in or out, not both.

Transfer rule is one per use year, either into your account or out of your account, but not both in the same use year.

For example, a member could transfer out 2018 points and receive 2019 points. It's been reported that this was done on the same phone call to MS.

Keep in mind that unless the transferred points exactly match your home resort and use year, they will not show in your online account. You will have to call MS to use them.

Realize that you cannot borrow transferred points. You can use the current year or bank them, but not borrow them. So if you get 2019 points, you can't use them in 2018.

I thought maybe they might consider it all as ‘one Transfer process’ because it was all being done together.
No, it would still be two transfers. I believe the system is one of the limiting factors. It only allows for one per use year. Why? Because due to past abuse, DVCMC doesn't want to see much flexibility with transfers & transferring for compensation is against club rules to begin with. (So how many gratuitous transfers should be expected anyway? ;) ;). )

I have never made a transfer, but I now have 8 contracts in 3 accounts. I have heard they don’t enforce the rule if you are transferring between your own accounts. Is that true.

I have three contracts in two memberships. Every time I transfer from one of those to the other, they remind me that I have made my one transfer in or out for the year.

The rules still apply but what they do is make case by case decisions when transferring between accounts of a single owner. Realistically the only time to count on this is when you need all the points in one account to make the transaction happen like for a single night or for cash type exchanges like DCL. You might get someone to help you if you're trying to make a single reservation as well but you'd have to call.
