Bee, we killed about 4 hours in the airport last time. We looked at all the shops, had a snack, read the paper, sat around, walked around...it went fast.
I do know there are many who get a day rate at the Hyatt hotel at the airport. For the day it lets you use a room, the pool, etc. Last I heard it runs around $75.

I would fly in the day before.
As for the Hyatt, it's convenient.....and "a tad overpriced" is an understatement. There are a dozen hotels 5 minutes from the airport for half the price with free shuttles to and from the airport. But yes, you will have to deal with your luggage. Sounds like you need to take a class on packing light if that is an issue. If you have more than one suitcase and 2 carryons for 2 adults, you packed too much. That's what we had and WE overpacked....2 suitcases, 4 carryons for 2 adults and 2 adult sized teenagers.
