I own two use years at BCV. I recently made a reservation which required transferring points from one to the other. The MS rep implied that I could do this multiple times each year, as I am not transferring pts to or from another member. The once per year restriction would not apply. Does anyone else have any experience in this situation? I was not really given a concrete answer when I asked for confirmation of this exception. Would it be better to just transfer all points from one UY to the other (August and Sept) at the beginning of the year to make reservations simpler? Or am I restricted to transferring only those points needed for the reservation I am making?

I have a lot of experience with it over the years. Technically the rules apply to you as if you are 2 separate people. However, DVC is far more flexible in the situation of a singled owner with multiple separate contracts. They handle each situation on a case by case basis but often will transfer banked and borrowed points as well. My experience is that once you get in a situation where you need to transfer to make a reservation or avoid banking borrowing to do so, they will give you flexibility. I just had a situation where they used the wrong contract for a wait list and borrowed a few points to do so. They did not have permission to borrow the points so they fixed it by transferring points from the other contract and returning the borrowed points to the original UY. These were different home resorts but within the 7 mo window. I confirmed this did not use my one transfer per year.

Over the years it's been the circumstances to get those last few points for a given night that have been most common. The other circumstance where I know it happens (I haven't) is for large points options like DCL where the points must be in a single account to use for the reservation. I don't know how they'd handle it when you need to reserve using the 7 night a a time option but my guess is they would not allow flexibility in that situation.
