Transfer point

How does this work?

I have a reservation already booked but my use year points expire in 2010. I am looking at transferring points in that expire in 2009. After the transfer is complete can I swap points to use the transfer points for the reservation and save my 2010 points for another time?

I may not be understanding your question, but will attempt an answer.

Have you borrowed points from 2010 for the reservation? If so, you won't be able to move them back into the 2010 Use Year and , besides borrowing, there is no way to have used 2010 Use Year points for a reservation since no reservations can yet be made for anyone's 2010 Use Year (the earliest dates would begin on February 1, 2010).

If there is availability for the same reservation, they will likely allow you to use the transferred points by cancelling the existing reservation and remaking using the transferred points. If there is already a waitlist, I wouldn't risk losing the reservation just to use transferred points. It would just be better to bank the transferred points and extend their use by another year.

Also, if the existing reservation was made before 7 months out, then if the transferred points are not the same home resort, you should not be able to swap them out if there is a WL for any of the nights. You may be able to with same home resort points or for reservations made within 7 months.-- Suzanne
