Hello,

A quick question for the community. My spouse and I have a DVC contract, purchased as a resale in 2011, before the restrictions on resale came into effect, and as such we have been grandfathered in for membership benefits: DVC member discount, can book at Riviera, etc. If we were to transfer the contract to our adult child (as a gift, or inheritance), would they retain the membership benefits, or would Disney consider it a fresh resale and take the benefits away?

Thanks in advance!

As long as it is a gratuitous transfer, then yes, they would retain benefits.

I would, of course, confirm with Membership Administration.

You might consider adding your adult child to the deed now, without removing yourselves. That would mean that when each of you passes, the remaining owners would not need to go through probate in Florida. And the contract would retain all its current eligibility for membership benefits. You can do it yourself (review this thread https://www.disboards.com/threads/s...xisting-contract-gratuitous-transfer.3701707/) or have a timeshare title company do it for you (we used LT Transfers).
