Transfer of points questions

I'm a DVC member with a June use year. I have 165 points, but need to purchase 122 additional points for a June 2011 trip. Can someone give me advice on making this happen? I want to make sure that in the transaction use years and etc.. match up.

You're within 7 months of June, 2011 so home resort no longer matters. Any use year July 2010-June 2011 should be acceptable from any resort.

You should be able to get any points that are from use year July 2010-June 2011, just keep in mind that the points you get transferred can not be banked already.

You just need to get points that would be eligible for travel during June 2011.

Those would include points from Aug 2010 UY through June 2011 UY. If you get Aug, Sept, Oct, or Dec 2010 UY points, it would count as your one and only 2010 UY transfer.

If you got points from Feb, Mar, Apr or June 2011 UY, then it would count as your one and only 2011 UY transfer

I would double-check with MS on this. When I combined my points with transferred points one time, I was told that since i was using my 2011 points, then I had to be using transferred points that were also 2011. So points in Sandi's third paragraph would work, but not her second paragraph. Call MS and see.

I've consistently been told that transferred points retain their home resort and use year. Also, I've consistently been told that you can choose which points to use from your account first. I'm surprised you were told this when making your reservation. However, if you did have an uncooperative CM making the reservation, you could simply make two reservations (one with the borrowed points and one with whatever points you already had to complete the dates) and link them.

Yes, which cast member you get seems to make a difference. I just did a transfer with another member and was told by the CM that the only way was with a conference call with MS the other member and myself, I said get out your kidding and then this was confirmed by a "supervisor" so I called back with the other member, got a different CM and he did the transfer without the other member even saying a word, he did'nt even know he was on the line.

I find it strange that the CMs no longer say "Have a Magical Day" when one is closing ones call with DVC reservations. Hmmm...

That is an interesting fact. I can see how that might need to be if you were using points for the same night.

Of course, when I inquired about transfers, it was strictly from an informational standpoint and didn't actually try and book and it could be why I was told what I was told.

I hope that someone who has done transfers and used them in this manner chimes in as it would be interesting to see if anyone has every been able to use two different UY points for the same question.
