Transfer Logistics for Split Stay

We are doing a split POR/Pop stay in June. If we ask them to transfer our luggage, do we forfeit it whenever we give it to them or would we be able to reclaim it up until check in time at Pop? I ask because we have 8am Tusker House reservations on transfer day, but would like to return to POR for a quick swim in their pool before heading for check in at Pop in the afternoon. Should I just check our bags at the bellhop so we can grab our suits and change at the pool, and then ask they be transferred when we are ready to head to Pop?

We check our bags at the bell stand and they transfer them to the new hotel. Why not put your swim suits in a backpack or beach bag. You could ask that it stay behind or carry it with you.

I agree, pack your swimsuits. I believe transfers happen during certain hours, and aside from that, you wouldn't want to run the risk of your luggage not making it to your next hotel by a reasonable hour.

All bags are transferred at the same time, after 11 am check out time. Apparently they all go to a central location for sorting & get dispersed from there. We do luggage transfer all the time. We’re always told our bags won’t be available until between 1 - 5 pm. Anything you might need before then, like your swimsuits, you need to keep with you. An alternative is to take a ride share or cab to Pop with your bags yourself & leave with bell services. I haven’t stayed at Pop but at the moderate & deluxes, you can access your bags at any time. So you could ask for your bag, get your swim gear & have the bag stored again. A little more work for you. Will you have a big backpack you can pack all your suits & sunscreen in? That is usually the easiest way.

Once you drop it off with Luggage Assistance at POR, it’s not accessible to you until it arrives at LA at Pop, which may be as late as 4 or 5 PM. So you should keep with you anything you might need before that - swim gear, medication, etc.

If you want to have access to all your things all day, the best is to take them to Pop yourself via Uber or Lyft and leave them with LA at Pop. Then you can retrieve them when you want to.

A couple years ago I had Bell Services get my stuff super early in the morning to transfer from GF to YC and then roped dropped AK. What I did was pack a swimsuit, flipflops, my Switch and my meds in my park bag in case my room wasn't ready by the time I wanted to take my midday break from AK. Was going to head to SAB if my room wasn't ready yet. But I actually lucked out, got my room ready text while heading back from Rafiki's around 1pm, and my stuff was waiting for me at YC when I got there around 2pm. Not saying it will happen that quickly but it's definitely the best idea to take things you need immediate access to. You're not guaranteed to have your bags that fast.

Also keep in mind if you have groceries they don't move perishables for you anymore. So you'll need to take those over yourself. We're doing that this time even though we are still having Disney move our luggage to the Poly.
