Hi. I wondering if anyone can tell me the most cost efficient way to get ourselves and luggage from Disney's Pop Century Hotel to The Swan and Dolphin Hotel? We are staying one night at Pop and then moving over to the Dolphin for the rest of our stay. It will be for 4 adults.

You can cab/uber/lyft to the s/d, do early check in leave your bags with bell services and head to the parks. Or you can have bell services at Pop transfer your bags to the S/D and then head directly to the parks, return to the S/D after check in time, grab your bags and head to your room.

If you choose to let Bell services move your bags be aware it can take all day, don't expect them at the new resort until after check in time.

We have done this to and from the Dolphin and WDW Resorts many times without any issues.

Luggage transfers between all the resorts will generally start right around 3pm - it's a coordinated, once a day, event. Your bags should be at the new resort by 4pm. You will not have access to them from the time you hand them over to Bell Services until they arrive at the new resort.

Does Disney transfer bags to the Swan and Dolphin?

I would advise against having Disney move your bags. I have had them move my bags at least 10 times to date...not once have I had them before 5pm!!! It drives me nutty. I had one time that they never even moved the bags until they got three calls from the resort that I had moved to!!! It took so long, the CM that delivered them to me refused the tip I tried to give him. He said he was not taking a tip for such awful service. So, I gave him a glowing compliment at the front desk!!!
From Pop to S/D is less than an 8 min ride...very cheap. If Uber can take the bags, with you, fine, use them. If not, just take a cab. No, your room probably won't be ready, but at least your bags will be at the same resort you're at. Do this early in the morning (I like to do it around 8ish), then you can get checked in, and head to a park until your room is ready.

Good point - for us it is still easier to let Disney deliver, like with DME luggage delivery we just plan not to have bags until late. If you have a larger party or a number of kids I find it much easier to let Disney move the bags. This way we aren't heading to a new resort just to check in and leave, we would rather head to a park and check in later when we can head straight to the room and call for the bags.

I didn't realize that Disney would transfer your bags for you with S/D. We have done this numerous times with split stays at other Disney resorts, but I just assumed S/D was the exception to the rule as it is with other on site benefits. Thanks for the replies everyone!:goodvibes

We usually let disney transport them but it's kinda of a hassle cause you have to be physically in the room when they deliver them. On our last trip we used Uber and it was much, much better.

Last time, I gave the claim check to bell services when I was checking in so they could get it for me and I could drag my own bag to the room.

What did you end up using? We are in the same situation but for two different resorts.

But if someone plans to be in the parks, not needing their bags, till after 4, 5 PM why would you advise against it?
I can see advising against if if you think you need your bags before late afternoon but really to flat out say don't do it, ever?
Personally, we are always in the parks all day on a day we change resorts. We never need the bags so who cares if it takes them till 4, 5 to get there?

Agree - we would have to store our bags anyway as we don't usually rent a car so it makes more sense for us to have Disney move them and then go about our day. We are prepared not to have them prior to 5ish so it isn't a problem :)

Well thanks to the exploding lithium battery incident at MCO our flight was delayed 3 times and then cancelled so we never made it to thr first Resort to do a split stay unfortunately. We had to pay to stay at a hotel next to the airport to catch a different flight, lost our one night stay at ASMo, lost our ability to take DME to Disney since our next hotel was the Dolphin and had to pay for transportation from the airport, and lost a full day at Disney. We did however make it there in the end and were fortunate enough to salvage what we could of our short trip and had a blast as soon as we arrived to Disney. Hopefully they will really do something about these lithium batteries. What a mess that made for so many people.
