Transfer fee for resale?

We're comparing closing costs for our resale purchase (no broker involved), and all the estimates say "plus resort transfer fee". Some timeshare resorts apparently charge a fee to change the owner of the contract. Anybody know if Disney does and what it would be?

In the past DVC charged $100 transfer fee then $200 for a short time. Currently the do not have a transfer fee, last I heard.

Doesn't Disney require that a ROFR fee be paid whenever a deed is being transferred? It might not be labeled a transfer fee, but it is a fee that is charged in the transfer process.

Yes. If I'm not mistaken they charge two fees -- a ROFR fee and a fee for preparing the estoppel letter. I think the total of the two fees is $70.

OP -- be sure your offer is priced high enough to clear ROFR, or Disney will snatch the contract away from you. That should not be a problem if you are paying normal market prices, but if you're getting a real "friendly" price from someone, you'd better do some research to be sure you're paying enough.

i know this doesn't apply to the OP but isn't aulani going to have one in the future?

The Aulani POS does not mention a specific "transfer" fee. However, it alerts Aulani buyers about a Right of First Refusal Review Fee. Quoting from the Aulani POS: " DVD is entitled to charge a fee of up to $250 to review all right of first refusal offers, which effectively means that Purchasers may not be able to sell their Ownership Interests until they have paid this fee to DVD" (page 18).

Thanks! We're just trying to get an accurate picture of our closing costs. We've already passed ROFR--on a very, VERY "friendly" price that has inspired lots of discussion! Because we didn't use a broker, we are sort of on our own looking for a closing agent and comparing fees.
