Transfer booking to DU?

For our 4 previous cruises I booked directly through the DCL website and had no issues or problems. When we were on the Wonder 2 weeks ago we did a placeholder which will likely go towards a June 2017 cruise. I'm thinking about transferring the reservation to DU for the shipboard credit. Oh wise ones of Disboards, how the heck do I do that?

So the $300 credit on a $6000 cruise may not really get me the $300? Any idea how reduced it gets?

It gets reduced by half, which used to not be the case but the rule changed about a year ago. This just happened to me. See thread here:

i get confused with this now, when you say placeholder do you mean their certificate or did you actually book a sailing? if it was the certificate and you haven't actually booked yet there should be no reduction. you would just let them book it for you when you are ready.

We got half. But half free money is better than no free money. Plus the DU agents are really great!

Even if you book a placeholder it is given a reservation # just as if you booked a particular sailing and if you get home and transfer it to DU within the 30 day limit, you only get half of the DU OBC. When you eventually do choose a sailing, the OBC will still be half of the usual. This just changed about a year ago.

I tried to name a TA upon booking a placeholder but DCL wouldn't allow it as the current cruise was not booked with one.

that happened with me to. i wanted to get away from du (not a perfect fit for me) and name another. they would not allow so i had to just name no one and then gave it to the ta when i got home.

Yes, you cannot assign an on board booking to any TA other than the one the current cruise was booked with. This thread goes into more detail:

Yes- that I know. wondering if there are any TAs out there (other than Costco) that don't reduce the OBC. Thanks!
