Hi all!
Since there's probably a less than zero chance of Disney having a Friends of Dorothy meeting on their ships, I thought we could start an unofficial FOD meet ourselves.
We're a couple of thirtysomething boys living in London, just booked onto this cruise. You won't find us on the Pirate thread nor making macrame gifts for Fish Extenders (I swear these are all new words to us!). You will find us bringing some olives and sundried tomatoes (ok, and some boxes of wine...).

Looking forward to meeting you guys! It is going to be a fun cruise!!!

Michael (and Marc!)

Hi Michael and Marc! Glad to be joining you on this trip.
I would've sworn this cruise to be prime GLBT territory - long trip during the school year- I thought there might have been more sign-ups...
Maybe I scared everyone with the boxed wine remark, lol - I'll throw in some proper bottled wine as well, maybe picking some up at a supermarket in Gibraltar.

I'm SURE it will be ... lets say ... high-spirited. :upsidedow
Gaaawd help that crew.

Welcome aboard highflyer....you're right there won't be an official Friends of Dorothy meet on the ship (actually in 2007, my partner and I were on the first DCL eastbound and there was a gay couple aboard who were first time DCL cruisers and they asked the cruise director if she was planning on having a freinds of dorothy gathering and she looked confused at first and then politely said, "no i don't think on this journey but suggest it on your feedback card at the end of the cruise....then she looked at another CM,who is part of the shows aboard the ships and also happens to be gay and she was obviously confused and he had to explain to her what a friend of dorothy was LOL---she apparently wasn't aware that other cruise lines have FOD meets)

Anyhow...so no, there will probably not be an official one....but there will be several of us FOD aboard (more if you include the CM's! :lmao:). My partner and I are doing the last Med cruise and the WBTA. You really should consider hopping over onto the cruise meet thread....I realize we're a bit intimidating with all our planning and spreadsheets and meets and activities and fish extenders (I've never seen a macrame one, by the way! :lmao:)....but they/we are a harmless bunch...and a pretty queer-friendly group, too. In fact they've been trying to plan a wedding ceremony for me and Jason to happen aboard the ship or on Castaway Cay for over a week now! LOL

There a few gay couples on the cruise, icluding myself and my now legal spouse after 23 years of being together. I agree with Erik about the group being pretty gay friendly. Come on over to our cruise meets thread and get to know the people. They really have been trying to get Erik and Jason married on this trip.

On our first Norwegian cruise we saw a "FOD" meet on the daily schedule...

We started asking around the ship and got so many hysterical answers...

"I dont know, maybe some lady named Dorothy rented out the room for the night"

"Hmmm not sure, is it a Wizard of Oz convention?"

:rotfl2:
