May 2023 we will be on the Transatlantic cruise.

For now I have a couple of questions ... and then I will have many more.

After leaving Miami - how is the weather up on the pool deck? Comfortable or chilly?

How fast does the ship sail? I assume that it sails around 20knts/hour ... is that correct?

Thanks for now

In May, you should be able to enjoy the top deck for the entire crossing. It will be hot, then comfortable most of the way. You could get a colder day during the cruise, but nothing to prevent you from being in the pool.

Most ships cross at around 20 knots. The Cunard ship goes a bit faster - she is an ocean liner after all - but cruise ships rarely go above 20-21. The service speed of the Disney ships is 22 knots.

We were on the last sailing in May and our weather was outstanding the entire time. We have never spent so much time at the pool. I can't say that's always the case but we were very fortunate. The water was also very smooth.

Only thing worth mentioning is the weather at Azores was not good. The captain actually had a presentation showing the weather and explaining why we wouldn't be able to dock. That said they made the decision to bypass and head straight to Portugal. We were disappointed to miss the port but we did get to Lisbon around 4 PM the day before we were supposed to arrive so they docked and we were allowed off the ship that night. We ended up staying there around 24 hours. The ship wasn't super packed to begin with but I think they said there were around 150 people at dinner that night. It's nice because you dock in the city so there are a lot of restaurants within walking distance.

Thanks, that's good to know. So we might plan on being up on the pool decks for many more days than we were thinking. But weather ....

We were on the Wonder several years ago and did not stop at Grand Cayman because of "weather". The weather on the ship was fine, but the captain did a slow sail past where we would anchor and the tender port. We could see the waves covering the dock, so that was a no go.
