Tranportation to Ohana from BW question?

Hi,

We have reservations for 7:30 at Ohana on a day MK will be opening at 9:00. We are staying at the BW. Will there be busses to get us to MK or should I arrange for something else (cab, etc.). Any information would be appreciated. Thanks!

There may be buses running, but not anything that gets you directly to the Polynesian from BW. You'd need to get a bus from BW to MK, then catch the monorail or boat to the Poly, and with all the transferring, you'd probably want to be on a bus from BW by 6:30 AM. I don't think they run that early.

Even if they do, it's a hassle. Why not do this:

1. Get a cab from BW to the Poly ($10-$15).

2. After you're done at 'Ohana, take the monorail or boat to MK.

Okay, so once you get to the Poly by monorail, where is O'hana's? I have a surprise breakfast booked there for DH's birthday and don't want to tell him until we get there to check in, so I want to know where to go, so I don't have to ask when I get there. I have never been to the Poly before.

Sorry to hear about your nightmare. I have never seen a situation like that. we always leave at least an hour prior to our reservation and sometimes longer than that. Sometimes they will take you earlier if they have a cancellation or empty slot.

I'm impressed ... I've never tried to get anywhere that early. I have no idea if the buses are running yet. You can always check with your concierge, and then go with a cab if needed.

In answer to the follow up question about location ... if you take the monorail, you'll get off on the second floor of the Great Ceremonial House. O'Hanas is on the second floor of the GCH, so you'll be able to spot it pretty easily.

If I recall, just get off the monorail and head straight in to the lobby area. I believe that Ohana was on the lower level in the back lefthand corner as you enter the lobby. There are both stairs and elevators to get down there.

Sorry, that's not right. 'Ohana is on the upper level, directly across from the monorail station.

When you get off the monorail, you'll be entering the building on the second floor. On your right will be a gift shop; on your left is Kona Cafe. 'Ohana is straight ahead.

You're both partially right....'Ohana is on the second floor but it is in the back lefthand corner. Straight ahead of the monorail doors is the open air lobby and beyond that windows and a seating area.

Anyway, buses start at 6:30 for character breakfasts. The resort monorail begins operating at 7am. After reading dani's report perhaps it is best to tell the monorail CM where you are heading.

We've done it from the BCV. We took the bus to MK then rode the monorail to the Poly. We got to the BCV bus stop an hour before our ADR which is the usual travel time we give ourselves for ADRs. Last time there was a CM standing at the bus stop everytime we had an early morning ADR. She marked down where we were going and made sure a bus was coming.
