Tranfered points go into what UY

I don't know the answer to this question but maybe someone does. If I got some points tranfered into my account now, what use year would they be and could I bank them ? Would they be their use year or my use year? My use year is December.

Transferred points retain their own UY (as well as remain points of their own home resort).

Depending on the UY of the points will determine if they can still be banked.

If your Use Year is December you are now in your 2008 Use Year (Dec 1 2008 - Nov 30, 2009) - you can accept a transfer of points now through then into your 2008 UY. On Dec 1 2009 which begins your 2009 UY you could have another transfer of points into 2009 UY.

~Technically~ the member transferring to you is also supposed to be in same UY that you are in (their 2008 Use Year in your case) although MS has allowed transfers with UY's that don't "match" - - so if the member transferring to you has a June UY which means they are now in their 2009 UY already they could transfer points to you now. The points transferred in keep their Home Resort status and their UY so if they are not the same HR as you have then you can't combine them with your points until 7 mos or less before checkin date you want and banking deadline would be whatever pertains to their UY ( like for June UY it is Jan 31 ) but MS has also been known to allow transferred points to be banked even if they are past their banking deadline.

Many CMs at MS are not very familiar with all the particulars on transfers so you may have to ask for a supervisor or CM experienced in transfers to handle things for you.

This kind of puzzles me because on June 1, 2008, I received a transfer of 210 BCV points into my June 2009 Use year and this was from another member's 2009 June use year. (This is a whole year before you are saying I could receive a transfer.)

This member and I struck a deal at least 5 months before she was allowed to transfer, but MS told her that she could transfer 2009 points when the 2008 use year began. And it went through without any problems and those points are bankable into 2010 if I need them.

Actually, the rules specifically allow current or next UY transfers. This is consistent with the prior poster's expereince, who had to wait until the 2008 UY to transfer 09 UY points.

So the memebr with a Dec UY could receive a transfer of 08 UY points today and another transfer of 09 UY points tomorrow. The potential problem with this scenario is that the banking deadline for all 08 points has already pased passed (Dec 08 points needed to be banked by July 31, 08). While MS has been known to allow transferred points to be banked after the deadline, this is not clearly allowed by the rules. If they cannot be banked, 08 UY points will expire in 2009. No, the banking deadlines for points is based on the UY of the transferred points. In the post above, the person was simply saying that at this point, that the banking deadline has pased for all those that are still in their 08 UY.

If you get points transferred to you into your Dec 09 UY, that will be your one and only one for that UY. Depending on the UY of those points, will depend on the banking deadline.

For example, I have a June UY. The way I understand it is if I transferred you some of my June 09 points on Dec 1st, you would have until January 31st, 2010 to bank those points (since that is the banking deadline for my points) not July 31st, which is your deadline.
