Has anyone traveled by rail (ie: Amtrak) to Orlando? I have been told that even though the cost is more than airlines, you can still save more because you can board your own vehicle.

I have no idea if this is correct but am interested in such a possibility.

Any experiences or thoughts would be great!

There are tons of posts here about taking Amtrak to WDW! I've done a search for them and have gotten such great info. You should definitely read all the advice and opinions.

You can only board your car on the Auto Train which travels from Lorton, Virginia to Sanford, FL. There is a great deal of info on the AutoTrain here too. I have been keeping an eye on the AutotTrain for our trip in December and right now it is running about $850 round trip. That is for a family of 5 and the cost of taking our van. Much cheaper than 5 RT flights and a rental car. Also, check out Amtrak's website, they are always running specials. Good luck!

I have tried to search for this topic but find the search function disabled for some reason. I am taking AMtrak with a viewliner sleeping car. Any experience with this? Can any luggage fit into these little cars?

Also, any recommendations for transportation from the train station in Orlando to Disney?

Thanks!
