What time do the good seats fill up at the Train Station for watching Spectro?

I've never viewed from there so I'll just bump this back to page one for you.

We viewed Spectro from the train station for the first time this year. It was the Tuesday after New Years, so crowds were thinning out. We arrived about an hour before Spectro and got the 2 remaining seats. It was a great vantage point. I actually noticed things on the floats that I had never seen before. If we were to do this again, I would probably plan on getting there between 1 1/2 - 2 hours before the parade. Claim one of the few tables that are available, bring dinner from one of the fast food spots, eat, relax and people watch.

I wouldn't stay there to watch the Wishes fireworks display though. When we were there, they left the lights on from about mid-way down Main Street to the train station. I don't know if it was a mistake or if they do that all the time for peoples safety as they exit the park, but it took away from the fireworks. After the parade goes by, there is plenty of time to make your way towards the castle for a better view.

Thanks. I was thinking about 2 hours. We might not make it this trip as we have reservations at Ohanas for just before six. We'll check on our way into the MK.

We were there at a really low crowd time and there wasn't much space when we arrived 1 1/2 hours before the parade. It was packed. It really was a pretty good place, so I can see why it would fill up really fast.

We will be attempting this on our trip in May. We are doing a trip without the kids, and rides are not a priority this time. Enjoying the surroundings and music and people will be our to do things. Were hoping 2 hours before will be good enough. We plan on bringing some popcorn and some soda along for the wait.

We watched Spectro and the fireworks from the train platform in early June 2003, and it was great. It was a moderately crowded week overall, but Spectro was only being offered on two nights that week so MK got really packed by the time the parade started. We snagged our 4 chairs in the front row on the train platform at approx. 6:30 pm for the 9:00 pm parade. DH guarded the seats while DDs and I did a bit of Main St. shopping for about 45 minutes and then came back to stay. He reported that we probably could have waited until about 7 pm and still gotten the seats.

We wrote postcards, played with the DDs purchases, it wasn't a horrific wait - we'd been in the parks all day and it was very hot, so it was nice to take a break while we waited. The platform is a great viewing spot, it is so nice to be able to SIT for the whole thing and still see everything. There were probably 4 rows of people packed in behind us by the time the parade started, some sitting some standing. The other great thing about the train platform is it makes for a very quick getaway. We were on probably the third monorail out of the MK after the fireworks ended and there were tens of thousands of people behind us!

Spectro was also the occasion of one of my most magical memories of our first family trip to WDW... as Minnie's float came by with her having on her sparkly dress and shoes, my DD6 breathed in total and complete awe, "oooh, she's SO beautiful!". :D
