Train hits stroller - Baby survives with scratches

My dad told me about this this morning; he's a really good storyteller, had DD and me on the edge of our seats! Wow, couldn't believe it when he said the baby was fine, just had scratches. We were so relieved to hear that!! :goodvibes

OMG, they keep showing it on TV, I can't even watch it, its so horrible to see. Thank Goodness he is safe, I don't believe in miracles but this is as close to one as you can get.

I would always lock those wheels on the stroller when my kids were in them. Mainly my fear was it tipping over.

The mom probably aged 20yrs in that split second.

Oh. My. God. I can't imagine how that mom felt as the train came in. I'm so glad the baby is okay.

And no doubt she'll be sure to put the brakes on the stroller all the time.

DH and I saw that on the news this morning. Both of us were in shock and just about started to cry. We were amazed and relieved that the baby had survived with only a "bump on the head" (according to the news). But watching the playback of the tape had both of us :scared1::eek::sad1:. Someone is definately watching over that little !

Watching the mother was heartbreaking. There is a "well" between the tracks, if you land in the well, the train passes over you. Looks like the stroller landed just right.

A few years ago, a man in Boston saw a boy fall onto the tracks when a train was coming. He jumped onto the boy and pushed him into the well, and the train passed over them. He was the local hero for months.

They said the train pushed the stroller several hundred feet, so it wasn't in that well. But the baby was strapped in tight and the stroller protected the baby. Sounds like it was just pushed along.

The fact that the train was coming in to the station and slowing down surely helped. I hate when they only show a small clip. I want to see the rest of the video when the mom sees that the baby is okay and all.

From what I am hearing, they are saying that since the baby was so well strapped in, that saved him. On GMA, the reporter mentioned how it can be so hard to fasten the baby in, but that this serves as a reminder just how important it can be.

I want to know the brand of that baby carriage.

agnes!

What an amazing miracle!!!

I can´t help but wonder whether this is part of a "viral marketing" stunt in the campaign for more safety at Australian train stations.

Oh dear God, I hope not. If this were true and I was someone who was there that day, an innocent bystander, I would sue the pants off of whomever might be responsible for pain and suffering. The backlash for such a stunt would be HUGE.

agnes!

This had me in tears this morning, even knowing that the baby was ok, I couldn't imagine the anguish of that mom for those few minutes. Horrific.

Does anyone who watched the video think it is strange that the mother stood there with her hands on her hips until the stroller rolled all the way to the edge? Maybe she was distracted. The video on CNN has minutes cut out in the middle. You can tell by the clock running on top of the screen.

Looks like she was on her cell phone, maybe?
