leaving from HomeWood suites convention center next Sunday how do you take the train to la for the comicon?

Google Maps has a public transportation search. Put in the starting and destination address and either your time of departure or the time you'd like to arrive by. If you are planning to take a cab or rideshare to the Amtrak station, enter the station as your starting point.

I would take the OCTA Route 543 northbound up to Harbor to the Fullerton Train Station. $ 2 per person, or if you have a valid ART pass, that also works for OCTA.

Catch the Metrolink to LA Union Station, buy a weekend Day pass for $10 from the vending machines at the station.

Take the LA Metro Subway (Red or Purple line) to the 7th Street Metro Station, and then just walk a few blocks to the LA Convention Center. (Your Metrolink Train ticket works for the fare, just tap the ticket (it does have a chip embedded in the cardboard).

To return, reverse the trip, the Weekend Pass works on all three segments including the OCTA.

Just watch the train schedules, as they only run a few times per day.

If you miss the last train (around 7 PM return), you could opt to take AMTRAK, its last train leaves Union Station around 10 PM. That would be an extra fare.

Or opt for the LA Metro Route 460 on the way back, and your Metrolink Day Pass will work on the bus.

Or if you truly want to be cheap, you could just take the LA Metro Route 460 bus. Get to the Main Disneyland Bus Stop (under the Monorail tracks) and catch the bus there. It leaves every 30 minutes, and would be about 90 minutes before getting off at Pico, next to the Convention Center, its last bus back is just after 10 PM. You needto tell the Bus Driver when boarding that you want a round trip ticket to the Convention Center, and ask how much it is,since Route 460 is one of a very few zoned routes, there might be a surcharge above and beyond the cost of the ticket (base fare is $1.75 each way), so make sure you have Dollar bills and some pocket change (such as a few dollar in quarters, and a few nickels and/or dime), so you will need to pay when you board going both ways

So those are two good options, I would opt for the Train personally, at least going to the event, maybe opt for the bus going back, depending on when it wraps up.

Not really, for a few reasons. First off think of a triangle, with the Anaheim station (also known as ARTIC) at the east point, the Fullerton station at the Northern Point, and then Disneyland at the south-west corner.

So your basic options is to head east on Katella to ARTIC or north up Harbor to Fullerton. The difference is about a mile (3 miles to ARTIC or 4 miles to Fullerton). One big key, most Hotels are on Harbor, and one of the most run bus routes is OCTA Route 43/543 on Harbor (543 being the better option as an express bus with limited stops). So more stops closer to guests, and the end of the line is the Fullerton Station (right next to each other). The Fullerton station has a better footprint and easier to get around in general.

For ARTIC, your choices are catch OCTA Route 50 on Katella, and you need to get to Katella somehow, or opt for ART Route 14/15. These choices run less often than the 43/543 and not as long in the evening hours, when the OP is returning.

Also ARTIC was way overbuilt, so you have a short walk from the bus stop to the station entrance, where you have a long walk to get to the loading platform. Add to that that you have to stay on the train longer if using Union Station (one extra stop), and during the weekday, the Metrolink fare would be longer. Also, the Fullerton station has two separate lines that go from Fullerton to Union Station (Orange County and 91 lines), while only the Orange County Line works for ARTIC.

I only would recommend using ARTIC if you are looking at the Southbound options like San Diego, San Clemente and San Juan Capristrano, and even then, depending on the Hotel where the specific guest is staying, I might still recommend Fullerton due to the better access.
