Would we be able to get on train at RD on Main Street and take to fantasyland? How practical is it to do that? Will it be crazy packed or do most people walk straight up main st at rope drop?
Our first fast pass is at 925-1025 at SDMT so was thinking of doing dumbo or one side of petes sideshow before SDMT and figure train ride would put us right there where need to be.

The train is used for the RD show. It typically takes them a while to reset it and run it around again I want to say about 9:20 is the first pick up after RD.

Most people flow right down main street and into the hub.

Also the train doesn't move that fast. It's not hard to walk to FL faster than the train. I know I left my family on the train at Main street and beat the train to FL after detouring for fast passes.

Okay thanks for the info. Will def be walking then. What is the best way to get to dumbo or Petes sideshow at RD? Do you think if we go straight to either dumbo or sideshow that we should be able to make our 925-1025 fp at SDMT?

Go via Tomorrowland. There is a little-known walkway which connects near Space Mountain and ends up by the FL train station. I believe that Josh of easywdw.com has it marked on his WDW map under his touring plans.

To be honest, you can even walk straight up through the castle and into Fantasyland that way and still not be a lot of people at RD. For some reason I notice at RD that the crowds disappear once you hit the hub and very rarely is anyone rushing to fantasyland for things other than 7DMT and the Frozen sisters.
