Hi

We are staying at Jablines camping Int for 4 nights. On our last day we would like to go into Paris. Our ferry is not leaving until 23:00, which will give us the whole day.

Where can we catch the train into Paris from DLP? How much is it? We are trying to organise a budget, but having problems finding prices. What type of ticket did you get? A travel pass that covered everything? How long does it take to get into Paris? Would it be easier to drive to the other side i.e closer to Bolougne and catch a train from there?

Many thanks

I should probably let an expert answer your question, however I recently made the metro trip from the DLP train station to downtown Paris.

RER A will take you from the station at the DLP to multiple points in downtown Paris.
It is a stuffy, crowded, uninteresting ride that takes under an hour and over 40 minutes. The afternoon return trip is very hot and stuffy.
However, it does the job.

I found all stops well labled, so I was able to determine exactly where the train was at all times. The train had a chart which clearly showed all the stops by each door. On the newer trains the chart was lighted, so as to show where the train was (or where it had last stopped), and where it was headed.

I bought a 2 day metro 5 zone pass for just over 30 euros.
I believe that one adult round trip ticket was about 16 Euros, but I don't remember for certain.
The line to get these tickets was very long during the most frequent times people would be making this trip.
I was glad I bought my pass ahead.
I bought mine at the tourist information booth in that plaza outside DisneyLand. I got a nice map also. This booth was not at all crowded when I bought my pass. The people in the booth spoke English (something I was told not to necessarily expect at the ticket purchase booth inside the train station).

Children under 12 are about half price (although not exactly), and under 4 are free.

Eileen offers sound advice.

I'll just add that the last time we were in Paris (March 2006), the one way adult fare between DLP and Paris was 6.10 EUR. (Paris is in zone 1, and DLP is in zone 5.)

One could also buy a "Moblis" one day pass (for zones 1-5) for 12.10 EUR. The Moblis will give you unlimited use of the RER (regional trains in zones 1-5) and the Metro (subway) in Paris.

To avoid long lines, you can buy tickets in advance of your day of travel. We bought ours midday, when there was no line.

No need to buy tickets before you leave the UK. Just get them a day or two before you take the RER to Paris (to avoid the ticket booth queue that morning).
