Trails End

Funny, last year we were turned off from The Wave breakfast and was planning on trying Trails End brunch next time we are at BLT.

TE b'fast is usually very good, but just didn't make it there this trip. So please, don't be put off trying it!!

First time at the Wave b'fast (been planning to try it). Completely different set up from TE. Was very 'classy', but totally right for the location. Am now convinced a different batter must be used in different locations for 'Mickey' waffles - these were strictly 'melt in your mouth' delicious while still being crunchy outside! Everything we ate was delicious!! Sorry you didn't enjoy it! An 'off' day maybe??

The brunch at TE was not offered the week end we were there as we really wanted to try it! We are not early eaters so it would have been perfect.

It was the little changes at the Wave buffet.
We went to get the sweet potato pancakes and looked and looked for the pecan butter. Not on buffet anymore. Server brings it to you. Little dab of reg butter, pecan butter, and jelly. I like a little pancake with my pecan butter, not the other way around. Please sir, may I have more????

They used to have a tray of smoked salmon. They changed it to toasted bread with a bit of salmon and some of other stuff.

They used to have a bowls of fruit. Now they had fruit cups made up. 1 strawberry, two blueberries and 8 pieces of melon.

This was in Nov of 16, perhaps they have changed again.

We have never eaten at TE for breakfast. In Dec, we are coming in on a Saturday and staying at BLT. I'm thinking we will get to resort by noon, and we'll head over by boat. Still enough time for brunch. But I won't try to make an ADR until we've landed.

TE doesn't do Brunches every weekend, so we were out of luck first of May. Not sure what their schedule is (or if they even have one). They may just schedule them according to the seasons (crowds). :confused3 You might want to check before making the trip over!!

About the Wave b'fast - can't remember about the salmon (don't care for it), the fruit cups are still there, also the waiter does bring out the pecan butter. We could have had more, but I only wanted to taste the pancakes, as I couldn't get away from the scrumptious Mickey waffles!! :)

Shhh!!!!!! Don't tell... We need to keep it a secret. :duck:

Funny, though... it's amazing how many times I go there and it seems like the secret is definitely "OUT" by the crowds that are there waiting to go. (Not to mention the crowds by the HDDMR)

I love that Trails End is so hard to get to, helps keep the crowds lower than they would be if it was somewhere else.

We really enjoy TE. There pretty much is something for everyone and we think the atmosphere is fun. The price is right too. It's basic comfort food. We have tried breakfast only once (very enjoyable), but have been there several times for dinner; we try to get an early-ish ADR time.

I don't think the take out is as good as eating there ...

But eating the TE breakfast or dinner is usually one of our favorite meals at WDW. On most trips we normally do breakfast there more than once. Over the years and trips we have been to most of the restaurants at least once and I still go back and eat at TE. Now I will admit, like with most buffets if you get there when they are switching over / right at the end of the buffet time it might not be as fresh or good. We have had that issue at almost all of the buffets though.

We are meeting our friends down at DW the day he is running the marathon. Last year they left right after the marathon. When I told her we were coming down Sunday her reply was "We can stay until Monday and we can go to Trails End for dinner" Always one of our favorite places to eat

I think it's a little over priced, but it's the only place I can get waffles and smoked salmon at the same time. We go once every trip for breakfast, not as fond of dinner but it's OK.

:rolleyes2
Waffles and Smoked salmon?
Who ever came up with that idea. I guess it would help if I liked Smoked Salmon, but I am just not a big fan of it.

We stayed at SSR the week of March 12th this year and had brunch that Monday at TE. First time ever stepping into FW after 16 years of visits to WDW. We loved it. They were doing brunch all week long, I guess due to Spring break. Usually it is only on the weekends. The breakfast food and dinner fare were all great. If I remember correctly the breakfast food was out til 2 I think. We loved the entire FW setup so much we are staying at the cabins Labor Day week. We will definitely go back to TE but probably for breakfast this time due to time restraints. I think the food is excellent there, hope you give it a try.

Two years ago (Jan 2016) I was at the Fort the first week of January and ran the Half Marathon

1) Good posting.
2) BUT, there are only two things that should/could run
. . . your car engine
. . . you nose

Hey Scupper, you should have seen me faking my way around the FULL Marathon Course this past January. :cheer2: I literally finished behind an Elvis impersonator and a Forest Gump (the runner version) impersonator. There were several of us weirdos finishing near the end of the time window.

Seriously I am a fan of the weekend Trails End breakfast/dinner mixed buffet that they run during the week on high attendance times too. For a few dollars more you hit ALL the highlights. Here is my first plate from this past January:

For the record that's smoked salmon, boiled shrimp, and cocktail sauce on the left side of the plate, scrambled eggs, link sausage, and grilled potatoes with a muffin on the right side, a slice of breakfast pizza on the bottom, a bowl of bread pudding on the top right, and a glass of chocolate milk and diet Coke at the top.

I mean, is this a great country or what? Where else can you get smoked salmon and chocolate milk at the same meal?

Then I went back for the fried chicken.....:cool2:

Bama Ed

PS - and wonderful Ken was my server. There were high fives all around my table...

A trip to the fort isn't complete without a meal at Trail's End.
