The lunch menu at Trail's End looks fabulous - but what is on the dinner buffet? And is it any good?

Never been and we are thinking of hitting it - and exploring Fort Wilderness a bit - in August.

Thanks!

Hi,
My family and I ate there two years ago this coming Aug. I have to say it was the only restaurant in all of Disney that we haven't liked. The food was blah and the waitress and hostess were both bad. We also had an ADR for 5:00 pm and we didn't get seated till 6:00. There was never an apology or even a smile from anyone there. On the other hand we loved HDDR. The show was great fun and the food was pretty good.

DS & DD wanted to go to the campfire & sing a long at FW so we decided to make an ADR at Trails End prior. I wasn't really excited about it since I've read some not so great reviews but it wasn't bad at all. I think it's a pretty good value when you compare it to some of the other on site buffets. There were plenty of food options for my picky DS & DD. They left with full bellies. Our server was excellent and is was a great laid back atmosphere. As we were leaving our server noticed that I hadn't finished my sangria...we wanted to get to the campfire...so she put it in a to go cup for me! :hyper:

We enjoyed it...it has the same food that is served at HDDR...and it is the only place on property where you can get sweet tea! :goodvibes

I've been there once for lunch, it was good, a little out of the way to get to though.

Dinner I've never tried, but I know the buffet has stuff like fried chicken and baked potatoes. Basically comfort food.

We found a great variety at the buffet, even for my beyond picky eater. Some items I can think of are fried chicken, ribs, potatos, carved beef, a fish, a pasta dish, salad bar, chili, rice, corn, cornbread...

We have dined there 4 times in the past 3 years and always enjoy it very much! IMO it's worth the trip over there.:thumbsup2

From allears the menu is listed as:
Soup of the day
Chili
Salad Bar
Peel-and-eat shrimp
Smoked Pork Ribs
Fried Chicken
Pasta
Pizza
Selection of Vegetables
Hand-Carved Roasted Meats
Fresh Catch of the day
Housemade Fruit Cobbler

We went for the first time last October since we tend to opt for 'simpler' food choices it seem to fit the bill for us. Unfortunately, it was not very memorable (outside of the sweet tea). The buffet line is small and tended to fill up quickly even on off hours.

The food was average at best and variety was minimal. I think they had a do it yourself potato bar as part of the vegetable options. The desserts were the best part for us but nothing special there either. Overall, for the voyage for us to get there no one wants to venture back anytime soon. It was a unique place for us to visit but didn't have the resort feel that we normally associate with vacation.

We used to love Trails End and ranked it as a MUST DO every trip, but the past few visits have been kind of spotty, both in terms of service and food.

One time, even though the restaurant wasn't crowded, we could NOT get refills on drinks. The waiter never ever came by. After 10 minutes, we actually went up to the refillable mug station for FW guests (in the corner of the restaurant) and got our own refills. :rolleyes1

The food is usually pretty good, but when it's bad, it's really bad.
