I would like to have recent opinions of Trails' End...we were there in 2006 at mid-afternoon and were SO not impressed. The food just didn't seem very good at all, BUT there was a scruffy snotty-nosed little girl who kept coming to our table and talking to us and trying to touch our food, all the while her parents who were equally scruffy and lacking a few teeth just sat there and beamed at their little sweetie. I am not a snob in any way but the kid was truly gross; not her fault at all. Cleaned up she would have been cute but she was really grubby (not playing-outside-grubby but really dirty). I know this colored our opinions of our food a lot. It just made us all lose our appetites. We plan to do the campfire and maybe the hayride on our Sept/Oct visit and it would be so convenient to eat there. IF it was good.
So, dirty boogery kids aside, how is the food really?

We have eaten there twice for dinner. I feel like it is pretty good. It is not as good/nice as Chef Mickey's, Crystal Palace or those type buffets but we felt they had plenty of choices and it is cheaper and we are actually eating there for Thanksgiving this year because it was much cheaper than other places for a buffet. I think it is worth your trying again. IT is nice for a change of pace.

We ate there in November '06. We enjoyed the food. This was our last meal of our trip and by that time we were so stuffed with the DDP that we were going to explode!! My DH loves ribs and he said they were good.

I think Trail's End is one of the better dining values at WDW. The food is good and the price is reasonable. It is so far out of the way, I do not feel many folks know about it. I also like the ribs but love the fried chicken!

We ate there in 2006 during spring break (we stayed in a cabin) and did NOT like it. The food offerings were limited and warmed over. We tried it twice, same both times.

It is a great place for breakfast. They have all the usual items, a good breakfast pizza and some other really good choices for less than othe breakfast buffets at WDW.

We love Trail's End for breakfast or dinner. We have an ADR made for our upcoming December trip.

We have been there a number of times, last time was last August, they were not replinishing the food and the line got ridiculous, the food was OK not great, we had always enjoyed in the past but are skipping it for our upcoming vacation.

We actually had an early ADR (5:40 pm) for Trail's End just this past Friday night. We arrived at the restaurant and after looking at the spread, decided to drive over to the Poly and eat at Kona Cafe. It just didn't do it for us.

In my personal opinion, better than you remember it. Not that I blame you, of course -- a filthy 'booger-kid' trying to fondle my fried chicken would probably sour my impression of the place too. ;)

As GolfCrazy said, it's one of the better values on WDW property. It's cheaper than other all-you-can-eat dining options and every time we've eaten there I found the food to be on a par with what I've had at HDDR. It's not haute cuisine, of course, but it's certainly been good.

I would recommend giving the place one more chance -- hopefully the "Toothless Wonders" won't be there to ruin the experience. :)

:wizard: We went there for breakfast last summer and really didn't like it at all. From the time we arrived, the service was terrible. We waited quite awhile to be seated, even though the place was half empty. The hostess who sat us seemed to have a real attitude problem. We sat and ordered hot tea and coffee. The tea never came. It must have gotten lost along with our waitress who never appeared again. We asked one of the other servers to help us and he said he wasn't our server. He was also not able to find our waitress. We finally had to ask the hostess with the attitude and got nowhere and finally found another hostess to get us the check. This is a buffet, so the servers aren't really responisble for anything but drinks.
The food was good, what there was of it. Many items were gone and not being replaced.
We, personally, couldn't recommend it and never plan to go back.:sad2:

I very rarely blacklist a restaurant after only a single visit (not that there's anything really wrong with that). There are so many variables that can change from visit to visit, I usually have to go at least 2-3 times to see whether or not the factors that caused my bad experience were consistent problems (as was the case with us and Alfredo's/Sci-Fi Drive In).

On the other hand, given that Trail's End is kinda 'off the beaten path' for most folks there's also something to be said for choosing to focus more on other restaurants where you already know you'll have a good experience.

Dh and I love Trail's End. The food is basic-not fancy in any way. We have always had great servers who were very attentive. The food, I think, is delicious and it is a great meal for the price. We always make a point to head over to Trail's End for dinner. Never had a bad experience and we love to walk around FW when we are finished!! :) :) :)

Best lowest cost buffet in DISNEY!

We stay at Fort Wilderness Cabins. Last stay was November 2005 and we will be going back this Nov. Outside of the fact that my DS loves ribs (even though I thought they were dry and warm), this was the WORST meal we've had anywhere including outside Disney, no wonder it was so inexpensive. Definitely not worth using on the DDP or not.
