It has been a long time since I stayed at FW-we are going in Oct and staying in the cabins:goodvibes, but WDW.com says that one needs reservations to eat at Trails End- we plan on doing most of our breakfasts here, and in the past (20 yrs ago) you could walk right in. Also we are a party of 9. Should we make reservations- are they neccesary at 7-8am?? I am going on the assumption that a lot of campers will be cooking their own breakfasts in campers... ? HELP! Thanks

Welcome to the Disboards!

First, Trail's End does not open until 7:30 am.

Second, a lot has changed in the last 20 years.

With the "Free" Dining promotion, you very well may need to have reservations to get a table in Trail's End, unless you want to wait a long time. Especially with a party of 9. ADR's (that's what they call reservations) are free. I suggest that you make an ADR for the morning you want to go to breakfast.

Thank you TCD! We will be sure to make reservations for Trails End breakfast!

Does it matter any that the week we're going is not during the free dining promotion?

For a party of nine would still do ADR unless you wanted to wait, Trails End is very popular at times Free Dining or not.

I agree. :thumbsup2

And, it looks like almost all of October is covered by the "Free" Dining promotion.

It doesn't cost anything to make a reservation. On the other hand, we showed up for lunch on the Saturday of Easter weekend around 11:15 (after we'd checked out but couldn't bring ourselves to actually leave FW so we said "let's have lunch at Trail's End") and were seated right away with no reservation.

The walk-up wait at Trail's End can vary from day-to-day, with Saturday & Sunday typically being the busier days. For a party of 9, you should make an ADR.

Thank you all so much for your insight- its been a long time and I knew some things had changed. We are going October 11-18, one of the blackout weeks for free dining- go figure! I will definitely make some reservations now though. My husband is diabetic so waiting a long time to eat is not really an option. Love the Disboards! :)
