Trails End Dinner

Have just booked an AR for my October stay at Trails End. Any comments from those who have recently dined there?

We have booked a time of 6.10pm - is this enough time to eat and then walk over to the campfire (I know it's quite a walk)?

You should have enough time to eat & get over to the campfire. Campfire states anywhere from 8pm to 9pm depending on when it gets dark. As far as walking to the campfire, it is a bit of a walk. You could always catch the bus to get there

as far as recent it was our last trip which was a little over a yr ago but it hasn't changed much in the umpteen times we've been in the past 20+ yrs..the food is always good old "comfort" type food and we go at least once a trip.not afancy place, rustic but nice. if you have time you might want to go a little early and go to the petting zoo, see the lawnmower tree( in the walk way between the dock and trail's end,walk the short nature trail, lay in hammock on the beach awwwww ...and after the campfire, maybe sit on the porch in the rockers...Fw is one of my favorite disney places outside the parks

We did this in May and you should have plenty of time. Because it is buffet it is really up to you on how much time you spend there. They brought our drinks out fast and we could have gone ahead and started if we wanted. We stay at the Wilderness Lodge and always leave a night open to go over and see the stables, eat at Trails End and go to the campfire. I actually think the walk is quite short. Especially considering how much walking you do at Disney. The first time we went they told us it was a long walk and to take the bus. We waited 15 minutes for a bus and we missed Chip and Dale(they are only there at the beginning). We walked back to the docks in probably less than 10 minutes. We have walked ever since. I guess it depends on your fitness level, but I did it easily at 8 months pregnant pushing a two year old in her stroller and I thought it was a nice easy walk. The menu is very simple but good at Trails End and the servers were wonderful last time we were there. Try to catch the Stables if you can, they are close by. The petting zoo is almost empty right now though. Plenty of goats and a few ponies. that is about it. Makes for a nice evening

The walk isn't much more than a half mile. I think this sounds like a great plan. Having stayed in the FW Cabins many, many times, we always made time to eat at the Trails End at least one breakfast and one lunch/dinner.

We ate at Trails End for dinner 2 weeks ago without any ADR'S. Food was pretty basic but really good. The pasta, and the fried chicken were delicious. The bread pudding was out of this world.

we also went to the campfire afterwards. It started at 8:00 pm and they showed a movie after Chip n Dale came by.....It was a lot of fun. We walked all the way to get there and back to the front of the camping. It is a nice walk and it helps to walk off all the food eaten at Trail's end.

Leave some space to roast marshmallows.....we were not hungry at all but HAD to raost a couple of marshmallows just to get in the mood....

We're staying at WL and just made ADR for Trails End. My DS loves chicken so he'll be happy. How do you get from WL to Trails End? Thanks.

Double check your times. I need too now after reading this thread - we will be there the 1st wk in October. I was told previously that C&D starts at 7:00 with movie(s) at 7:40. I was advised to make our ADR for about 5:00-5:30 so that we would have enough time to get to campfire...Okay, couldn't wait so I just called WDW and was told it is booked/scheduled 5 days out (as to time and what movie is played) and to call 407-824-2727 as they would have that information. I contacted that # and was told that currently it starts at 8:00 but during later months it does bump up to 7:00pm as it gets dark earlier. They suggested I call right before we head down or once we check in to contact them again as they will have the up to date hours.

Am I the only one who thought Trails End wasn't that great? It wasn't bad, it was just OK. We stayed at the FW cabins this past May and had dinner there one night. It wasn't crowded, the server was great, and the food was plentiful, but I just didn't like it enough to go back.
I will say that I loved the atmosphere at FW. It's a great place to spend an evening away from the parks. Our youngest turned 7 months during that trip (his first ) and we definitely slowed down from our past touring speed. FW was the perfect place for a laid back vacation.

The best deal on WDW property is doing a take out meal at the Trails end. You get 3 containers plus your drink. A large white styrofoam one, a clear salad one and a soup one. You can put anything you like in each container and the amount of food you can fit is amazing. We have done it a couple of times for breakfast and one meal will feed my whole family. You could just get take out and eat at the campfire.

I'm interested in trying Trail's End on our next visit to WDW. We'll drive there from our resort. I'm not familiar with FW -- how far is the parking lot from Trail's End? Is it a good hike or a short walk?

It would be a very long walk. You should just catch an internal FW bus at the parking lot and it will take you to the Settlement/Marina area. That is where the Trail's End is as well as the Hoop Dee Doo Review and Mickey's Backyard BBQ.

How often does the internal bus come by the stop and how long is the bus ride from the parking lot to the restaurant area? When making the ADR I need to make sure to build in enough time for dinner arrangements so we could get back to our resort in time for DS (toddler)'s bedtime routine which starts around 7:30 pm.

Maybe, maybe not. You'll have to either valet park at the WL or use the self-parking lot, which can be a) hard to find a spot in and b) a bit of a hike to the front entrance of the Lodge. Then you'll make your way to the boat dock and wait for the boat. Depending on the time of day, the boat may stop at the MK before going to FW. If you get lucky, you'll stroll right out to a waiting boat which will take you straight to FW, but it's hard to predict.

is the camprife year 'round? I remember going as a kid during the summer and having a great time! We're taking or DS (he'll be just shy of 5) in November and would love to take him down there!
