Since we are going on a budget (fairly tight for food) for 4 days, I thought this place may be good to try out for lunch since it's comparatively inexpensive. So I have some questions.

1) is it any good? is it worth the price for me (I'll eat anything); DH (mostly vegitarian but will eat fish); DD (4 yrs old so who can tell what she'll eat on any given day)

2) how do I get there? the day I'm thinking of going, we'll be doing Epcot in the morning and then hopefully having lunch at trail's end. Should we drive, use Disney transport, or is it too much trouble and not worth going at all?

3)I'm assuming I won't need a PS for lunch. Tell me if I'm wrong.

Yes, it is very good. A good variety of food.

A car is nice. But since you are going for lunch, the Disney transportation is also a good shot.

If you drive, you drive to FW and park at the Outpost parking lot. You take any bus that says "Settlement". Trails end is at the settlement down by the lake. To get back to your car, take any bus that says "Outpost".

You could also take the monorail to TCC and either get on the WL,FW bus at the TCC (which will bring you to the "Settlement", OR, take the MK monorail to MK and take the boat to FW. Trails end is a few humdred yards from the dock.

PSs. You don't need one. We were there in May for lunch and the place was less than 1/2 full. But if you are driving, having a PS to prove you are eating at Trail's End would get you through the MK toll booth with no problem.

You can also ride the bus from Epcot to FW. If you are returning to your resort after lunch, you'll need to go to a park first or DD. We ate dinner there for the first time in May and will be returning again on future trips. The food was good and price reasonable.

I'm not trying to discourage you from trying Trail's End (I hope to try it myself next trip), but just wanted to add a comment about the amount of time it might take to get there and back to whichever park you're going to next. If you're looking to take a mid-day break from the parks, and have the time, that's great. If you want to spend a lot of time in the parks, this can use up several hours of park time during a 4 day trip.

One of our 'must dos' on our trip is to go to FW via boat from MK. Excellent way to get away from the midday heat and a beautiful journey. Take the monorail from Epcot to MK and then get the boat (as another poster has said) - the only way to do it in my opinion.
