Traffic question - Universal to MCO

We are thinking of taking a long weekend trip to Universal in March and will be staying near the park. We will be flying back Monday morning (9:00ish flight) and I am wondering about traffic from the Universal area to MCO. Is there a lot of traffic and I will need to allow for more time or does it flow the opposite direction of rush hour? Any ideas? Any ideas on timing to get there on a Monday morning? The choices are to stay at the hotel we have chosen for the Universal stay as they have a pretty good 4-night rate or we could just Priceline an airport hotel if that seems to be a better choice. I could drop the rental car Sunday night and use the shuttle and then just shuttle back to MCO in the morning. We would prefer to stay at the Universal hotel as our first choice and near the airport as our second choice. Any experience or suggestions?

Thanks.

I doubt you'd have any issues that morning if you're staying at a Uni hotel. Get onto I-4 in either direction when you're leaving with I-4 eastbound slightly better. If you get on east bound the next exit is the Turnpike which you take southbound towards Miami. When you get to TOLL 528 (the second exit as you head south) follow the signs onto 528 eastbound toward the airport. Total travel time is 15 to 20-minutes. Should you get onto I-4 west bound then exit directly onto TOLL 528 east bound and it will take you directly to the airport. Travel time 20-minutes. Of course allow time for check-in if you've not already done so and rental car return, preferably with one of the companies with a rental car return in the airport parking garages.

Thank you very much. This is what I was looking for. Sometimes morning rush hour traffic can be crazy and not having a time expectation can make it unnecessarily stressful.

Thanks again.
