I am so excited we made it to single digits :cheer2: We are thinking of changing our driving plans. We are supposed to leave Eastern NC on the 21st and stop half way and drive the rest on thanksgiving day to Disney. But We think it may be better to drive straight through on the 22nd Thanksgiving day but we worry about traffic on thanksgiving day.

if anyone has driven on thanksgiving day or if anyone has thoughts.

How long will it take you? I'm thinking no more than 8 to 9 hours. I wouldn't bother with the traffic mess of Thanksgiving Eve. I'd just travel on Thanksgiving Day. Traffic will be light, because everyone is already at Grandma's house.

My stepbrother and sister-in-law always traveled Thanksgiving Day for the years he was in the Coast Guard.

They did the MA run to DE; LI to DE; NC to DE and never hit any traffic. Some stretches of road, they said they would have it to themselves.

I remember the dreadeds trips for Thanksgiving to my grandparents every year from DE to CT. We would leave Wednesday around noon and drive back Sunday.

Sometimes a 7-1/2 hour trip would turn into 11 or 12 hours; it is the worst time to travel, except the actual Thanksgiving day when most everyone is where they want to be.
