We always start our 1st day at WDW at MK with breakfast at CP before the park opens, we have an 8:05am ressie for our upcoming trip, which was great because the park was suppose to open at 9:00am...well now they changed the hours and it opens at 8:00am. So my question is, what would you do? Stick with tradition and go to breakfast or skip it for the extra 45 min-1 Hour in the park in the early am before it gets too busy?? I am so torn on this. I thought I would try to make a Chef Mickey's reservation at 7am instead but of course at this last minute notice (we leave in 20 days) I can't get one!

We have the same scenario with AK in Sept. Now that AK only does EMH mornings our approx.8am breakfast on a Monday, is no longer before park opening, it's during EMH morning. We don't usually take/or not take advantage of EMH's on trips. If it just so happens thats ok. BUT I always liked getting into AK early, having breakfast and then being on of the first on the Safari. I am thinking now that i will run and get FP for it before we are seated for breakfast, or if we are seated early ge up go get them and go back and finish eating. We are keepiong our breakfast, gotta stick with some traditions. PLUS we really enjoy the AK character meal.

I am big on tradition so it it were me I would stick with it. Plus, I get sort of crabby in the morning at Disney if I don't at least have a little snack! Which is odd, as I don't eat breakfast at home. But I would say stick with breakfast. It's not like it's a multi-hour difference, and I know I would probably spend that hour wandering on Main St anyways! Good luck with your decision!

We have traditions and they come and go along with everything else that's dhanged in the Worls over the years.....We'd take that extra hour+ and enjoy the parks before all the others show up.....I'd do it another day.......hours change alot in WDW, and if they are going to give me some extra attraction time, especially in the morning....we'll take it.....we'd grab food from the resort food court, and be there for the opening...not too make EMH mornings at the MK in a trip....I'd even postpone it (move it till alot later....rather be eating when the masses arrive than eating when the park is empty.....just my opinion.....I can always eat....just can't do attractions crowdless when the masses arrive....

I would take the hour if you can do CP later in the day or vacation. Also you may want to ask your family. things that mean so much to you dont to the kids but sometimes I find that works the other way around to!

I would stick with tradition. The very fact that you have one tells me you've been to the MK many times, and will likely go back many times. There should be no real need to ensure you see every single attraction. Stick with tradition and enjoy the family time at the breakfast before the trip really gets kicking :)

I would try to get a reservation at another time, for us, I know we would feel rushed trying to hurry up through breakfast to get out to the open park, so it wouldn't be worth it. Traditions are great and all, but new traditions start somewhere too!

Hope you have a great time!

Personally, I'd ditch the res and enjoy that first quiet hour in the park. We were just there and the day we did MK on an 8AM rope drop it was walk on for pretty much any ride the first 60-90 minutes, then only the headliners had minimal lines before 10:30 or so. So nice.

Guess I'm going against the grain here to say skip the ressie and enjoy that wonderful 8-9 time in the park. We did 8 a.m. RD at MK three days last week and it was heaven. No crowds, enjoyed many rides and characters, hit TSI at 9 a.m. and found a paintbrush, etc. Our first day at MK we had lunch at CP at 11:30 and it was perfect. We had done so much and were ready for a break and a nice sit-down lunch.

If you're really big on the breakfast, move your CP reservation to 10 and enjoy a late breakfast/brunch after enjoying a couple of deserted hours in the park. IMHO, eating two hours later than the traditional time wouldn't be be much of a difference.

I am going against too - That first hour in the park is Gold! I would skip the ressie and have lunch at CP. But either way you can't go wrong it is Disney :)
