Trading with Jawas

What kind of items do you take to trade with the jawas?

We traded a large plastic gold coin, 2 spiky bouncy balls, and an R2D2 toy that had come out of a Cheerios box. He was very excited about the R2D2. In return we got 2 droid bodies and 2 heads.

So much fun!

We were just there on Sunday and they wanted my daughter's Family Reunion pin we got when we checked in. Also my niece was trying to teach them how to high five and clap. It was pretty cute.

I read they liked shiny things so we brought some mardi gras type beads like you get at a party store and the jawas got very excited. This was the highlight of my kids' day at HS.

SHINY metallic. They want to be able to trade back to others. Some things they will refuse. Sometimes they get mobbed so they will just stop trading.

Mardi Gras beads are easy to find right now. DS traded big gold buttons (I bought an assortment pack) and big jingle bells. They loved them. He's gotten back some nice things.

Last year for SWW, my son and I made Star Wars shrinky dinks to trade (just tied a string on them so it'd be like an ornament or something). They have shrinky dink material that you can draw whatever you want on and then shrink it in the oven.

Some of the Jawas seemed to love it. We got an autographed picture of a Jawa for a few of them (the one Jawa took a long time to decide and eventually asked for 2 of them) and some mardi gras beads.

I remembered hearing that the Jawas were allowed to keep some of the special things they got so I like to think there's a friend of a jawa out there somewhere with our shrinky dinks on their keychain or something, lol!

They WILL NOT do food or anything that could be dangerous (like pins without the safety backs).

We didn't know about the Jawas in DHS before our trip in January. It was pretty magical for the girls! One Jawa came out and was looking in the trash can, "scavenging" for things to trade. We were completely clueless about trading with the Jawas! My 10DD caught on and traded her park map to one, and he gave her a park map in return. She thought that was the BEST joke in the history of EVAR! That interaction launched her into Jawa fandom.

Tell her she did great. I saw someone trade them a park map and they got back a crumpled napkin!

The jawas do have a sense of humor. When we were there in December, I was desperate to find something to trade with them, but all we had was a couple of extra band aids. Jawa took it quite grudgingly, sighed, dug around in his bag and eventually gave me l...a hair tie. Jokes on me I guess, since I have a pixie cut! Lol

This is so cute. I will have to bring some items from home to trade and hope they will still be doing this when we go in Sept.

We didn't know about the trading until we were already standing in line. So my dd offered them the pirate tutorial scroll that she had gotten the day before and a band aid that I pulled out of my bag. They didn't want the scroll, but they traded the band aid for a droid head....

Last time we went to the Launch Bay area, I tried to trade our 3yr old boy! We told them that DS was in good condition, 3yrs old, and ran nicely. He did require lots of fuel, but it went a long way!

The jawas thought it was pretty funny! We didn't trade him in, but they gave us a droid head and a droid body anyway. Eh, resale value on toddlers is low anyway!

(btw, we love our darling boy!:love1::hug:)

And, our boy named his new droid "Friendzy"

We traded light up finger lights. Pack of three for 2.99. The Jawa loved them! He took my phone and took lots of selfies with the crowd. Very fun experience.
