Trading Spaces - Who'd Ya Vote For?

I don't think the Lavender teams room would have come out so nice if they had to use the red paint that they chose instead of getting lucking and choosing the color that Gen had picked.

i voted for the lavendar team...i didn't feel that she was saying things deliberately to sway voters. maybe i wasn't paying as close attention as others were. i based my votes on how the rooms looked in the end, how they spent their money, and how well the teams seemed to work together.

and as far as the responses in the end to the rooms, why should they have been any less critical than they would at any other time? had that been doug's design, no one would have said anything about her reacting the way she did about what she plans to keep in the room. she was being honest...paige asked her to be honest.

I know I was supposed to vote based on the room, and not the couple, BUT....The green team was so gracious and wished the other team well. They were always upbeat and didn't wish ill against their friends. The lavender team was a little bit nasty, saying the hoped their room looked terrible so they would win. Yeah, everyone wants to win, but the green team displayed a better attitude. I didn't like either room, so I voted for green.

I think you can tell when a designer vs. the homeowner made the main decisions.

(On the gallon of paint that they had to deal with: I would have poured a quarter gallon into the bottom of each of 4 dresser drawers and when it eventually dried, the drawer would have just been a little bit more shallow.)

I voted lavender too. The competition idea is to vote for the best room, not the personality of the players.

I thought the Blue team was more honest. :p

The blue lady said she wanted to win the contest. I don't think that is all that evil. I would want to win also. She also said she didn't like the room. I didn't have a problem with that because I didn't like the room either.

Now if either team had actually managed to use the clashing color in a way that showed in the room and didn't look horrible, that might have swayed my vote.

I was also a little disappointed in the rooms. They had double the usual budget, but I didn't feel the rooms reflected that at all.

We voted for the Green team for pretty much the same reason as others. The lavendar lady was a real manipulative witch...and not very good at it.

Why not? Seems to me that if other reasons aren't to be taken into account then why do all of the personal interview stuff with them?

I was thinking I would have painted the inside of the closet the paint color...

I voted lavendar, but I didn't like that Paige didn't ask the green team what if anything did they like.
I personally don't think either of them need their houses payed off. Did you see them? 200+ thousand dollar houses? Pay off us poor peoples houses;)
About Vern he does have his own show now. And I forgot Ty's show was on, I like that show too.

I voted lavendar based on the room and nothing else.

A few thing bother me about this competition. Ine is that this is supposed to be a competition and they suggested the people design in their minds ahead of time and then they make them blindly pick from 1 of 3 paint colors. I didn't think that was fair as it could totally throw off what design you had in you mind ahead of time.

I didn't mind the second paint challenge, because you could get really creative about hiding that color. But the wall color is a different matter. Paying off someones mortgage is a big deal and if you truly want it to be their idea then don't throw curves.

Another problems is that there are 8 teams with 8 different designers. Anyone who wastches TS knows that Lauries and Gen's rooms usually turn out better than Doug's and Hildie's. I just think there should have been the same 2 designers for the 4 shows.

BTW - I thought Doug's input totally affected the Green teams' room.

I thought they had a better design, were much better shoppers, and were more creative.

I don't think she should be penalized because she didn't like the room. I thought it was ugly too. I also do not trust the editing to show the true nature of everyone, but things that make the show interesting. I do not know what I would sound like after no sleep for two days.

She never asked the same type of questions for the green team to say what they did not like in the room

I noticed this ....I voted based on the room not the comments of the couple....It should be interesting next week who is announced as the winners...

I liked both rooms. I voted green because their room had more spunk to it. That was likely Doug's influence, though. I like that they make people try new things. If they don't work out, it doesn't work out. At least you saw something that you might use later.

As to the comments, they get those on TS all the time. I don't see that that was out of place or too surprising. It's a chance you take.

Woah - wait a minute - you all mean to tell me that Doug is not gay?! Is that bad to say? I actually always thought he was based on someone knowing someone who knew someone who knew Doug when he worked in this area. Totally baseless I know since its like telephone, but it stuck with me. Not that there's anything wrong with it - just throws my universe into a complete 180. I think he's so cute. I would have thought longer on that if I had know he was interested in women.

As for how I would have voted, had I read everyone's comments last night while I was voting, I probably would have thought differently about this, but I voted for the Lavender team based on their originality. I actually didn't like what the green team said in their interview with Paige about why they wanted to win - I thought they really danced around a lot about it and just hadn't really formulated their thoughts as to why they should win. As for not liking the dragonflies in the room - I didn't and the fact that it was Dougs influence further sealed my opinions that I would not vote for them - it is supposed to be their rooms and they should have been able to control Doug in that regard. I really liked the ingenuity of the Lavender team in finding some unique items they could use in the room.

I am very excited about the contest too and I really like the way it is run. Plus I needed a fix after the disspointment of the HGTV Dream Home loss.

I actually watched the repeat last night because I deliberately missed the first airing. Couldn't get myself to watch a show that gave a show to people who can afford it....

I decided to put my prejudices aside and watched it anyway. I was glad to see that they told that the breadwinners for the homes were involved in professions where they helped others and probably could use the help. NOT at all like the people on Ty's show, which makes me CRY, but not as bad as I thought.

I had to admit that the personalities do sway my opinion, and probably will be a deciding factor in the ones who win. Attitude is 80 % of life and it hard to vote for someone you don't like. The players should be fully aware of this and realize that America will see and hear their ways and remarks. Controlling that will be harder than deciding what to do with the paint!

I couldn't vote but I would've voted for the green team. Both rooms stunk to me so I had to vote for the ones I liked!

Goes to show how much the designers are needed!

I watched last night also, and couldn't have voted. I was rooting for the lavender team the whole time, because the green team leaned onto Doug too much (had him pick out the light fixture, the fabric, the wood floors, etc) whereas the lavender team got some great steals and got the fabrics and furniture on their own (the desk table was actually kinda cool). So I just felt that the lavender team was having more say into the room...but it was also because Gen didn't try to take over at all...whereas Doug seemed to not be able to handle the fact he wasn't in charge...IMHO...

But, I was extremely surprised with the lavender's team's comments when they said why they wanted to win ("Not wanting to sound cocky but......"). Being honest about their room...good! They were asked...at least they were honest....though they could have said it more positively (ie - The room is great, and it appears that a lot of hard work was done, but it is just not our style. I love the floors and the cabinets quite a bit though!)

That's JMHO!! :)
