First off - so glad yellow won over lavender! yah!

Secondly - fabric. What the hell was UP with the lack of fabric last night? Did red just do none? did light blue actually CHANGE their fabric to what they spun on the wheel? (they had the nasty madras at first and then re-spun for a new fabric...so why was laurie still doing that rug...was the rug even in the room?)

Thirdly - $2000 shopping challenge - What a crock! Ok - light blue over paid for that chair from the thrift store - but they got TWO CHAIRS for that room that came out really awesome (IMO).

Red bought 2 fugly glasses, spray painted them black, smashed them up and put a tea-light on top? (And Angela was all secretive about it with Laura and Paige?) What a waste of money!

I really really hope that light blue moves on from last night...granted they are very artsy...but they are really throwing themselves into this Trading Spaces experience...Red just seems to be gliding through right now. JMO.

ok - discuss

While I thought last week was a pretty fair and even matchup - it just was the Lavender teams attitude and lack of creativituy with the TV that blew it for them - this week I thought was an absolute blowout. Blue team was by far the winner here. The red team really screwed up I thought.

I don't know what happened to the rug but I would guess it was in their room somewhere. I have to look at the before and after photos on the web some more. I also don't think their room was great beside what Ty built for them - and to me that's not what hte competition is about.

I really enjoyed last nights episode. My husband and I were practically yelling at the TV, because we felt the red team "cheated" on their shopping challenge. It was cool that they gave away the money, but still not right for the contest. I voted for the light blue team and will be very surprised if they don't win.
As far as the fabric goes, here is what I thought happened. When they spun the second time, it was really just for the stereo. Also, I know that Laura had said that since they needed any fabric to made up of 51% of the "spun" fabric, she just did not buy any.
I truly feel that the light blue team had the better room. I did like what Ty did with the entertainment center for the red team, but that was about it. The look Angela's face was a cross between "I love this" and "this is better than what we did."

ok - the stereo...did red even put it in the room? I don't remember seeing it anywhere...

and the fabric...or blatent ignoring of it by Laura...was just bad IMO.

I saw BRING BACK VERN!!! Imagine Vern with 5k to spend in a room? :sigh:

i'll be utterly shocked if lt blue doesn't move forward!! their room was awesome...loved the tree! and the challenges...i think they handled them better. while i agree that they overpaid for that chair at the salvation army, i'm glad they did it there. worthwhile cause, you know? and the fabric challenge...they met it head on. that was a fantastic idea that they had for the rug...

the red team really disappointed me with their challenges. not using any fabric in the room...and the glasses...just very disappointing...

here's hoping the lt blue team moves on!

I agree, I LOVED the light blue team's room! I simply adore rustic decorating. I want to redo my livingroom like that now ;-)

I to, think that the red team cheated in their shopping challenge. And that it may hurt them with the voting.I definitely voted LIGHT BLUE.

I voted for lt. blue too. I thought they were much more creative and handled the challenges well. When it was time to vote, I wasn't sure who to votw for at first, until I realized it was only because of the entertainment center that Ty built, I really liked that. I didn't like how the red team handled the shopping challenge, I didn't like the purchasing of the glasses, and then I thought they were going to redecorate the outside of the glasses or something. I also didn't like the way the sofa was positioned adjacent to the big screen TV. How are they supposed to watch it that way?

The red team had a huge disadvantage by having a new designer as Laura. I felt so bad for them with her comments and lack of support and her trying to control the room makeover. She decided if they did not buy ANY fabric, they would not have to buy that ugly yellow fabric since 51% of zero is zero! Interesting, but I did feel it was a cop out.

I was disappointed in both of the teams way of handling the shopping challenge and not using the money to the full extent. Both wasted over $1500 that could have been put in their rooms.

The light blue team had a vision from the beginning and followed through. He is so creative and they both work so well together to make their ideas on paper real. I loved their room and would not mind having that room in my home. I think they will go all the way! Go light blue team!!!!!!

I LOVED the light blue team's room! Not just "liked it better" I really loved it!!!! They are so creative, have lots of ideas and they handled the challenges much better.

I like the red team, but I thought their glass thing was lame, and their room did not "wow" me. I thought not using any fabric at all was pretty smart, but I do wonder if having the newest designer hurt them. She is more catty than Doug with some of her comments!

I hope it's Light Blue vs. Yellow for the end and I think Light Blue will blow them away! I hope they get GOOD designers- I'm hoping for Edward, Frank, Laurie, Christy or Doug. Or Genevieve.

whoa whoa whoa.

ok - Edward, Laurie, Doug or Gen...but Frank and Christy? These last two can be kinda hit-or-miss. (but if light blue moves on...doesn't matter who the designer is, they'll still run with their own ideas!)

BRING BACK VERN DANG IT!!!!

I think Frank or Christy would be good because THEY HAVE FUN!!! :D :D I think those two designers would really boost up the final two couples and help them along rather than hinder (like, I dunno, Kia, Barry or as we saw last night Laura).

And sorry, Vern ain't comin back! He has his own show now! I wish he were too, but it isn't gonna happen.

Vern has his own show???? Where? What? Oh no!!! I miss Vern!!!

hmm...very true...and they also aren't very head-strong and are open to other's ideas (unlike Doug and Laurie sometimes.)

I stand corrected! ;)

I don't know if it's on the air yet; he is in collaboration with NBC to do a home style type of show. I do believe he has a website---do a google for Vern Yip.

Stinkerbelle,

I agree the light blue shou8ld win this week (although I had not voted for them in the first round), but I am worried for them because the lavender and orange teams I voted for in previous weeks did not make it to the next round.

The red team last night was totally lazy in not even trying to do the shopping or fabric challenges properly, and in our opinion don't deserve to move on because of that.

Not to mention, the other team was very creative and made a nicer looking room. At first I was sure the tree bursting out of the wall would be icky, but they made it look nice!

Yes they "cheated," but I don't think what they did was cool, just handing money to random people.

On the other hand, the lt. blue team manged to give a lot of money to the CHARITY, making it cool that they gave but still keeping within the spirit of the challenge.

I heard that the final teams get to choose their designers for the makeover. Should be interesting! I hope that Edward and Laurie are the designers for the teams! Guess we have to wait until Sunday!

Also quite pleased that the Yellow team won from last week! It was a lot closer than I expected.

This week was a tough call though. I ended up voting for the blue team. I'm not sure I agree that the red team cheated. For me, attitude was everything, and both these teams had a great attitude. Also, the red team got, IMO, stuck with a designer that wasn't much help.

Also, I read on the boards on TLC that Vern was "let go" because he, in effect, was cheating. He was finding under the table ways to ignore the $1000 limit and bringing in stuff that wasn't paid for out of the budget. It was apparently not very popular with the other designers.

Did anyone see Ty's show on ABC last night after Trading Spaces? They did an "Extreme Makeover" of a home of a wheelchair bound guy in his early 20s and his family. What a great show! A lot of fun and very moving! And the timing is perfect....on right after Trading Spaces is over on Sunday night.

We're not too impressed with Christi, or Lauris Day, or Barry...and of course...the fear of Hildi. But the rest are all pretty good. Even though Frank and Doug can miss sometimes, they are usually really good.

I heard that too about Vern going over the $1,000 budget and "cheating"---I may have been the one who posted that. Doug was at a home and garden show in Texas and a lady asked "where's Vern?" He explained Vern was let go from the show cause he was cheating with the budget and it wasn't fair to the other designers.

You know, lately Hildi has been much more "hit" for me than "miss." And I thought she was quite helpful with the Lt. Blue team for the first go around.

I missed Extreme Makeover----well most of it. It and Trading Spaces Home Free are on at the same time and I don't have a VCR or TiVo so I can't record one while watching the other.....I can't wait til DVD records (and is affordable!!) I flipped a few times and saw how they had to cut the dining room table- ouch!
