Have you ever noticed that Paige AND the designers come back on Day 2 wearing the same clothes? Seems odd..... Do they REALLY do this over a 48 hour period, or is it really staged with bunches of worker bees behind camera doing the work and they tape it in just 1 day? If it's really 2 days, why the same clothes? Even the home owners bring an overnight bag, so they should be able to change. Whaddaya think? ;)

They make them wear the same clothes for continuity in case they have to edit something out of order... :)

I think they might do that for ease of editing. If the clothes and hairstyles don't change over the two days, they can insert the scene wherever it will fit best in the final show without regard to what day it was filmed on.

I have read that there is a seamstress who does almost all of the sewing for the rooms. I wouldn't be surprised to find out that there are some other behind the scenes helpers as well.

I have also heard there are lots of worker bees behind the scenes. They just aired two shows taped here in Maine....didn't get to see them though. I'll have to wait for the re-runs.

Does anyone know when Laurie had her baby?

I read that she had a baby boy over the summer.

What to you guys think of the new season so far? I am enjoying them. This weekend's episodes were great! Both kitchens in the one episode were so pretty when they were done!

I can't remember the exact date that Laurie had her baby, but I believe his name is Gibson Witherspoon Smith. I know I saw a picture somewhere..

They do wear the same clothes both days for editing purposes. Laurie had a baby boy over the summer.:D

I never even noticed the clothes! I take that back - I thought Genevieve was the only person who wore the same clothes. I think I only noticed hers because occasional she wears weird jumpsuit things and they're hard to not notice.

I guess I'm not much of a clothes person!

Thanks Guys!!

PS. I liked this weekend's shows, but the kitchens were too similar -- both in Celery Green. And what is with getting new designers? Have any of the old ones left or are they just adding more?

Can ya tell me and DDs are new found addicts? ha ha! When we were cleaning the Dining Room last week and started moving chairs, DD age 4 said, "Just like Trading Spaces!" Whatever works, I say! LOL!

Yep, I don't think I noticed it either until I was reading the FAQ on their webpage and it explained why they wore the same clothes. It's funny too because you know they edit it because they'll be in a room working on something on minute and you'll see that they've already starting bringing some things in and the next minute the room will be empty again :)

How does everyone like the new guy, Edward? I liked the room that he didn't but I really didn't like the green carpet. I know they didn't have the time or extra money to get rid of it though. There's another new designer that will be on this weekend's show. I hope this doesn't mean Laurie's never coming back...I really like her.

There are 2 new designers this season. Edward who is the former sewing coordinator, and a woman named Kia who will make her debut this Saturday. They added 2 additional designers because this season they will be shooting 60 new episodes instead of the usual 45. Since Hildi got married in June and moved to Paris, she will only be shooting 8 episodes this season.

Also, in all season 3 episodes there will be a pillow with the Roman numeral III on it hidden in one of the scenes. It's supposed to be like a Where's Waldo-type thing.

I'm just full of information, aren't I? LOL!

Yep. Signed off the DIS the other night planning to go to bed. Ended up watciing Trading Spaces instead (2 hours later).

I loved the kitchens. Love the new designer. They were similar, but that is what both couples asked for. Lighter, airier. Loved the floor Vern put down.

Trading Spaces.. OMG.. we are so addicted.. we just started getting TLC this July... my whole family loves this show...

I would like it if they would.. put up a shopping list and receipt list of all the materials they use.. It is hard to imagine getting all of that stuff.. especially kitchens.. for less than $1000. I know a huge amount would be spent on the carpenters if you were doing it on your own..

The new shows are great... almost too good.. I am waiting for Doug or Vern to whip out some outrageous paint and faux fur!!

Has anyone watched the British version "Changing Rooms". I get a kick out of that show. It's on BBC America.

I think the new designers are to help fill in the gaps while Lauri is on maternity leave. I would hope she comes back, but guess we'll just have to wait and see.

What was funny was the kitchen that Lauri did that she picked out the colors that matched the old colors exactly. Totally unintentional.

The decorating on Trading Spaces is about on the level of dorm room, first apartment decorating. The ideas are way to trendy, the materials used cheap. cheap, cheap, and ultimate outcomes awful. Everything looks hand made, like artsy crafty homemade. And there have been at least two episodes I have watched where the owners were devasted. The one girl started to cry, while the hubby was saying we are going to have to find a way to fix this room.

This is why no one should go on the show if they're not willing to be open to new things, lol! I would never go on, I'd be too afraid!;)

I've seen changing rooms, but its only 30 minutes long and its not as fun.

Ya know I have never really noticed the clothes that much, other then why do they were such nice clothes to do remodel work in?? I mean gen is about the only one who is dressed "practically."

You've got to remember that Trading Spaces is really more game show than decorating show. Sometimes you win, and sometimes you lose. For the most part it seems like everyone wins (or at least has a lot of fun).

Since Lauri is out with her son (she needed to take a break, the last couple of shows I saw her on, she was really getting on my nerves and I LIKE her) and Hildi's away in Europe. Hence new designers. I really liked Edward. He seemed to have a good handle on everything.

Looking forward to seeing the other new designer this weekend.

And remember...all hail the great Poopalina! ;)
