Trading Spaces Fans... A Question....

Oh Cassie, I love Changing Rooms! Maybe it's because I saw that one first, but I really dislike Trading Spaces. I wish it was an hour format though. I'd like to see more of how they do things in the rooms.

I have to admit, though, that the episodes of TS that I hated were with the first host (NO ONE in the house could stand her). That may have had a lot to do with it. I also couldn't standing Hildi! But if Frank were on every show, I'd watch! He's great!

I did notice, during my last trip through Ikea, that alot of the accessories and furniture come from Ikea. It was almost like taking a stroll through the "Trading Spaces Museum." Even the silver chairs from Doug's infamous "theatre in the basement" were there. I guess that's one way they keep the costs down.

I imagine that since they only have 36 hours (not really 48 if you think about it) to complete the room that alot of it is going to be slapdash. The carpentry looks pretty good though (both Ty's and Amy's).

I too am addicted to Trading Spaces. I had to work a couple of weekends ago on Saturday night, so DH was taping it for me, and DD was watching it with him. It was the one with the sororities. The girls with Frank had made a poster that said "Frank is the Cat's Meow". My DD thought they were talking about Ty (she doesn't really know their names). When she found out that who Frank was, she asked DH, "WHY do they think he is the Cat's Meow...? Then everytime Ty came on screen she would growl and meow at him. She is 8, and has the hugest crush on Ty... what can I say... the girl has good taste!!!;)

I found Changing Rooms before Trading Spaces also. It was a marathon weekend of Changing Rooms and it also featured a blend of Changing rooms and some outdoor renovation type show. I found it fascinating. Some people got a room redone as well as their back yard area. I really enjoy BBC America.

I was wondering.. Do you think Trading Spaces will ever do some shows dedicated to "Returning to the scene.." where they go back to the homes they have redecorated to see how the "Handiwork" has held up or in some cases if it is even still around.. I know that might be heartbreaking to some of the designers.. but I really would like to see if something ..let's say the kitchen tile they used or the doors they put up were still functional..

Whaddaya think??

mamajoan, there are several homeowners who post on the Trading Spaces website. Occasionally, there will be pictures of the rooms once they are redone after the designers leave. If you remember Doug's Home Theater room, the homeowners redid it right after TS left. What they did was not much different from what it looked like before TS arrived:rolleyes:

The crying woman who had Doug's brown family room repainted hers red, removed the fireplace facade and put some green and white checked furniture in there. I think the only thing they kept was the wainscotting.

Right now the 2 women who were on last Saturday's episode with Frank's country red dining room and Edward's bedroom are posting quite a bit. Both LOVED their rooms and they said it was a wonderful experience.

I would never allow any of the designers into my house, I'm too much of a control freak about the decorating in my house. I do love to watch it though, I've actually used a couple of ideas from TS.
