Trading Reservations-A Hypothetical Question

Let's suppose I'm an owner at BLT (I am, BTW). MK Views are probably goingto be harder inside 7 months.

I want to stay at BWV in a BW view. We already know that's a hard ticket basically any time of the year.

Is there a methodology for finding a BW owner that might be interested in a MK view at BLT so that both can book at 11 months out, settle up on any point differences between themselves and then, effectively, trade reservations or each just make the reservation in the name of the other party?

Surely some of you have done this. How do you handle it and where do you post to haggle it here on DIS?

Thanks in advance for any ideas. Just trying to think ahead a little. Please don't contact me looking to book BLT in Sept. if you're a BWV owner. LOL I'm just trying to figure out how I might handle this in the future.

You would effectively be making a reservation in each others name. As far as DVC is concerned, it would be a mutual rental. You would be renting a reservation to the other party, and they to you.

This can be accomplished through our Rent/Trade Board, but like all member/renter transaction, there are risk and trust issues on both sides.

Assuming you do not already have an existing DVC reservation made that you want to trade, this would be considered a "Trade Wanted" post.

Here is the specific rule that applies: Trade Posts, but be sure to read all the R/T Board Posting rules and follow them carefully, as the R/T Board is processed by an automated program that looks for specific titles and dates.
