Trading points newbie? Please Help!?

Hello,

I'm a DVC member and I would be interested in trading with someone for a trip next year but I have a few questions as I'm a newbie to this ...

-Can I still trade if my points are borrowed from 2014?

-When would I go about posting that I need to trade?

-Once you do find someone, what's the process?

-With the traded points can I use some of those points for a RCI stay (we would like to stay 3-5 nights in San Fran)?

-If you can, how far in advance can you book a RCI stay?

You need to remove the details (dates, resort, # of points) from your post as that is not permitted because it could be viewed as soliciting for a rental. Just leave your questions generic and I'm sure you will get some good info.

you can make a reservation for someone with borrowed pts and rent or trade that reservation.

OTOH, you cannot transfer borrowed pts.

the rent/trade board. if you are logged in, you'll see it.

you should read the FAQ first.

it's a transaction between individuals. the process can vary.

IMO, most of the time it will be difficult to "trade" - much easier to rent for cash and pay cash for a rental you prefer.

You can "trade" points with another member depending on how they will be "traded". Some will want to have a reservation made at your Home Resort and then make one for you at their Home Resort. Soe will want potins transferred between accounts. Borrowed points cannot be transferred.

-When would I go about posting that I need to trade?

I'd post as soon as you know what you are looking for - keeoing in mind that reservations can be made 11 months ahead at the earliest, but transfers may be made for the current and next Use Year.

Depending on the details agreed upon, transfers/reservations/combination would be carried ot according to what has been agreed to between the parties involved.

There is no need to "trade" with someone else to use the World Passport Collection - for that you'd just need to deposit your points into that program and let MS know what you are looking for. You should begin that process as early as possible - I'd suggest at least a year prior to when you wish to go.

You may reserve thru RCI as soon as you find a match for your desired location and dates.
