I have no idea if this is in the right forum so if it isn't, I apologize.

My son barely got into pin trading right when we left last time. He has his lanyard now and it has about 8 pins on it, all of which he would not want to get rid of. I was thinking of getting one of those starter pin kits off ebay so he would have some pins to trade. What I want to know is - what do your kids keep their pins on? There isn't enough room on the lanyard for alot of pins so what do your kids use?

Thanks.

the lanyards we have hold about 10-15 pins easy (depending on size). Anything we want to keep, we just simply take off and leave in the hotel room.

We only have 1 set and its set off, pinned to card stock in a shadow box (the rest are still on our lanyards until another set is completed or I get a pin bag)

I know some people pin them to things like pillow cases, hats etc... as well

Pin books...we also have cork board full of pins. If I decided to sell on eBay I could make a mint! LOL :) As for buying on eBay I have a link in my sig to good eBay sellers....check it out. It's on the Collectors Board if you want to just go straight there.

I can't read the bottom of your siggy. Can you post a link to the ebay area that you are talking about? And what is a pin book?

Hi Derncare,

A pinbook is like a photoalbum but its made to specifically hold trading pins. You can buy them in the parks, resort giftshops, and DTD. There are also a variety of bags & hats made to also hold extra pins.

I personally like using a corkboard @ home to display all the pins my children collect. When we travel to WDW they buy the starter packs to trade for new pins but still like to keep a few of their favourites on their lanyard (using the permanent backs). After all, part of the fun of collecting is showing off your finds.

We used to keep them in a pinbook, but it seemed a shame to keep them hidden (we have a lot after 5 trips). I bought a blank canvas from a local craft store and put them on that and hung them up with our pictures from WDW in our family room. They are a great addition and fun to look at and remember our trips. We have more that are on lanyards hanging between the pictures, since DD has gotten a new lanyard each year. While we are at the parks, she just wears some each day and then takes off the ones she wants to keep and adds new. I highly recommend buying the traders on eBay! Have fun!

Can you tell me about the permanent backs? I do recall last times that the ones on his lanyard fell off a few times cause the backs wouldn't stay on. Where can I get these?

Thank you!

when we went in the fall i bought a started kit online, with the locking backs as well. i also went to the dollar store to buy the kids cheap lanyards. once we got there, i wore the 8 or so that came with the starter kit. i bought several for the kids and put them on thier lanyards, but they didnt wear them being 2 and 4. so when we wanted to trade momma hauled out her lanyard so the kids could trade the ones i was wearing and not their special ones.

i like what you guys have done with your pins- thanks for the wonderful ideas!!! i still have soooo many of mine from the year it all started in their orginal packaging and have no idea what to do with them.
